I am looking for an 18 deg hybrid. I am just starting and play off 26 but don't have difficulty in getting the ball in the air. I feel that shops often want to sell you what they have in the rack.
Would the Ping G10 be a good choice?

My Ping G10 24 degree is one of my favourite clubs, love it bits. That said, I would be a bit wary of an 18 degree hybrid. I have owned 4 or 5 over the last couple of years at it seems perfect to fill a gap in my bag but never found one I could hit consistantly

Interesting point Greg, can I ask why that is? Slightly OT but I'm looking for a 16* hybrid, primarily to use off the tee, as I can't hit a driver / 3 Wood for toffee (I know, I know, get lessons!!), but I hit my current 18* pretty solidly from the tee and am looking for a little extra length (Oh Err!)

Just curious as to your reasons for being wary.

Cheers,
Ian

Yonex do the Cyberstar XC+ in 16 deg.
I have the 19 deg but I'm a bit inconsistent with it. There is one oddity with them and that is the degree of flare that seems to produce a more pronounced taper on the grip.

An 18 deg hybrid is equivilant to a 2 iron.
As you are off 26, maybe start off with a 21 deg or 24 to see how you get on, then maybe try the 18.
A 15-16 deg is like a 1 iron so maybe best avoided unless you've tried one and get on well with it.

Put hybrid 18 into ebay and you get loads of options from £10 upwards.

I got a couple of Ping G5 hybrids off ebay for less than £50 each. Nice clubs and prefer to the G10 which i had before. G5 do a 19 degree, where as G10 do 18 degree. Make sure you get the right shaft to suit your game.
