150 yard stick in line of ball path

That rather depends on how far I hit the provisional ball! It becomes in play either if the original ball is lost or OOB, or I play a shot with it from closer to the hole than where the original ball is likely to be. Neither applied in this case, as my ball was on the fairway, but about 120 yards shorter than it should have been!
Sorry. I read your original as if the ball had finished 60 yards behind you :o

I once hit a direction post absolutely square on with my drive and my ball rebounded about 60 yards back towards me! I had to play my ball as it lay. :(

You must be the unluckiest golfer in the world

Every single scenario appears to have happened with you ?!

I suspect that we've all had situations where we've hit an obstruction (tree) and had the walk of shame - further back than where we last played!

Even better (funnier) is when you hit one of the markers for a tee forward of you and the ball rockets way behind you. You can find yourself playing your next shot from rather embarrassing places - much to everyone's delight and amusement.

Well I have played golf for a long time! The hole in question was the 3rd at Wexham Park in Buckinghamshire BTW.

It's a fair point - and having played for near 45 yrs myself I'm guessing I must have seen most things that can happen on a golf course - other than the totally outlandishly bizarre - and I have seen some of them as well.
