Wow....that's impressive....40/1 to finish in the top 10....they must really have had a downer on him.

Thanks for explaining this...

Dave,

He was an unkown at the time and had only qualified for the Open the week before by coming second in the Scottish Open. I was at that event and had followed him round and was mightily impressed. I only wish I'd done it again at Carnoustie last year. He was still 10/1 for a top ten.

You can still get 10 or 20 to 1 on better known players getting a top ten finish, though. Will be interesting to see the odds when they come out. Will probably have 3 or 4 £25 bets myself just to keep it interesting.

does the bet have to be on an outright winner or can it be other things? e.g lowest round of week, first hole in one, least putts.
You can often find yourself some good bets in these sort of categories.

Good questian eaglehunter, I'll have to find out.

You can bet on anything in the Majors.

Highest placed European/American/Australian etc, lowest round, who'll miss the cut (made lots of money on Monty on that one!), best score in the 3 ball/2 ball (two players to draw is always 15/2 by the way).

Take your pick. The bookies are just throwing money at us ;) ;) ;)
