From my experience of playing at the Links I think this is exaggerated more than reality. A sort of legendary myth whilst it is true 'some' locals do prefer the New.

Anyone would be a fool not to be open to opinions that could change theirs. The problem arises when these fools think their opinion is the only correct one out with facts.
