Many thanks for taking the time out to check everyone, I've looked at the websites of courses mentioned, it looks very similar to Alnmouth village GC in that it is coastal/a nine holer and treeless but the map doesn't tie in with the club house overlooking a river mouth, to add to the details...
Can anyone help in identifying a course?, I collect ball markers from courses I've played over the years and for the life of me cannot remember the name of a course so I can at least try to get the marker.
It is a 9 hole course, somewhere on the North East coast in between Newcastle and Berwick...
Like most places the prices can appear to be extortionate but if you go well prepared you can save a bit here and there, I went to the practice day on Wednesday, £30 cus I booked before end of May, had a night in a Travelodge at £10 as I booked in December well in advance, then took a fair bit...
If you look at the Dunlop collection advert in the papers it has a little giveaway sentence at the bottom, they endorse the clothing only. A lot of companies just want their logos visible so you get cap and bag deals where the clubs are a different brand to the one they are advertising, i...
Had a great day at the Wednesday practice day at Lytham yesterday and had an hour watching Tiger on the practice ground, wedges followed by irons then onto woods, he was hitting a 3 wood and flying over the 250 yard marker and then out came the 2 iron, he repeated a one high one low routine...
I bought a Red X a few years ago, it was a well made putter but the balance was awful, face was very difficult to keep square, I think they are vastly overpriced at £200 plus for what are virtually Ping copies, each to their own if a £5 Dunlop works for you then play that!
I love mine, I find it extremely useful and it carries the correct amount of information to justify wearing one without actually thinking I am cheating, yardages to front, middle and back so depending on where the flag is and what direction the wind is blowing as long as you've done some...
In the 28 years of knocking it round i'll go with
half set of cheapy cast irons from a catalogue, snapped and bent under little provocation.
Set of Pinseeker irons, blades and quite nice for the standard/price
Titleist DTR's, lovely quality irons
Titleist DCI's, as above
Mizuno Mx 23's - as...
On the cheesy list would be
Floral Dance - Terry Wogan
Funkytown - Lipps Inc
Matchstick men - Brian and Michael
Uptown top ranking - Althea and Donna
Carrie - The might Cliff Richard
Chanson d'amore - Manhattan Transfer, always on the tip of my tongue after a night on the desperado's
I bet we'd all love to have Westwood's shortgame, true it doesn't measure up to the likes of Woods and Mickleson but generally shortgame shortcomings only get highlighted in majors when you are trying to save par and don't, the greats like Woods and Ballesteros always seemed to be able just to...
Re: RIP Seve
Indeed a sad day, I could just sit and watch Seve hit golf balls all day, single handedly made the Ryder Cup what it is today and apart from being one of the greatest golfers ever had charisma like no other before or since and just wanted to win from the moment he teed a ball up...
Correct about being friendly, I popped in after a trip to the lighthouse and was warmly greeted by the pro who was quite willing to show me round the place and was happy to give me as much info as I wanted.
Has anyone played the tournaments that are advertised on the Golf Empire website?, individuals/pairs/teams etc, looks like there are some interesting venues at a very good price for a day out, so if anyone has played at one I want to know how the day went re applying/organisation etc.
What gets me about their trade in 'offer' is that they will offer about £15 for a decent Ping putter which is probably what you'd expect to get at a car boot say, then if you go to their 2nd hand section they will be selling something similar for about £60, I understand they have stocking...
My home course is about 35 miles away but it's via motorway so bout 30mins on a good day, I prefer stroke play, really like a Texas scramble but for me I really like playing 4 ball better ball matchplay for the spice of competition.
