I did this for posting last year prior to RC2016 (so the ‘Currently’ ages may be out slighty)
All the Westwood talk of getting 2020 seems to forget Harrington’s older and
imo better suited to a USA go nevermind the 3 majors…
Anyway, I have done a little research and in my opinion…...
A reply to some comments above…
I did say and can only mean ‘On Current Form’ as no one knows what the next year will bring.
I will be delighted in my own little golfing world if Poulter, Westwood and Donald are all back with a bang next year.
I just don’t see it and they haven’t...
IMO the European Team could be wildly different this time around.
On current form,
There are only 3 definates…
McIlroy, Stenson, Rose
Then several probables…
Lowry, Willett, Luiten, Garcia, Kaymer
Then there are a boatload of new possibles depending on the form next year
Fleetwood...
Every year I hope that we get a barnstorming Masters with plenty of people in contention to set the year up nicely. Masters run up will be all about Rory but I hope he doesn’t just walk it by 6 shots. This explains my 1st category…
Player to challenge Rory – I think certain players need...
IMHO…Paul McGinley will pick Poulter, Donald and Westwood.
He is not a ‘boat rocker’ and got the job through the main names from Medinah supporting his nomination. He has been a safe pair of hands thus far with no real pressure on him, (apart from WIN and WIN BIG really with the team...
I want to register my incredulity at this topic and the updates within.
When it first started I thought it was drivel of the highest order at best
and banal in the extreme at worst – and yet in mid-June people still going on about their birdies…
I mean really – reality check here –WHO...
At my club we have a 3 clubs AND a putter comp on a Friday night when we play a 9 hole cross country (1st tee - 17th green etc)
Followed by pie and peas and presentation - a well supported one off bit of fun. (3w, 6i,pw and putter for me !)
Only superstition I have is I never wash my golf ball prior to a tee shot with water in play
Just do not like the idea of me washing the ball, drying it then splash! in the pond it goes
It'll be washed for the rest of its days without cleaning it beforehand.
Friday Foursomes (in order)
Rory/GMac
Luke/Sergio
Westwood/Lawrie
Poults /Rose
Friday FourBalls
Rory/GMac
Westwood/Colsaerts
Poults/Donald
Hanson/Molinari
Reasoning = Rory out first both time– show no fear in our best players being shot at.
Think my 4somes pairings pick themselves and are...
I think this thread shows the real problem for club members - we carry the bad shots we have hit on holes with us for a long time. I stand on my 'nemesis' par 3 knowing I haven't hit the green in ages and there you go another missed green, my 'nemesis' par 4 I can't hit the fairway for love nor...
Most range sessions I take the following clubs and approach...
1 wood - driver,3-wood,hybrid
1 group of irons - 3,5,7 or 4,6,8 (alternate)
1 wedge - s or p
always using 5 balls per club I will
work up the set - warming up
work back down - aim at targets
wedge play to different distances and...
Its all a question of where to start !
This very magazine produces a list of top 100 golf courses in the uk and ireland.
There is a website of the same for the world/different countries.
I sure I'm not the only one working my way through the lists, (I still have the 2000 GM top100 mag)
IMO its...
My Best Shots Ever - top 3
1. 16th at my home course, par 4 475yds SI 1. 2007. Smashed driver down middle into the wind. Left with 200 to go. Green sits on ledge with ground sloping severe left to right if missed so the safe approach is run it in from the left hand side, hope for 2 putts and...
I sent the following letter to Golf Monthly regarding last month’s magazine article on Caddies and the poll attached to the end of it. I have received no response, (printed in this month’s letters page or otherwise), and have seen no comment about the subject matter anywhere here. So I now...
I hardly felt a thing.
The Ball went straight, higher than my usual trajectory and the alarm bells were ringing when I saw it land only 100yds away. I look down in surprise to see a divot line my tee used to be. I’ve almost gone beneath the ball, ‘O well at least I’m in the fairway’ and...
