Key here is finding someone who understands not everyone swings the same. We had a pro years ago who hit fades and all his lessons were about teaching you his swing basically.
I would say though, at a handicap of over 20 a pro will be able to get you down without changing grip, posture, stance...
Do you read a 50 foot putt? Why when at your handicap you are unlikely to make it?
It's not for everyone and to be fair I haven't done it for a while either but if it saves one shot in a round then it's worth it.
And as said elsewhere, if it gives you confidence go for it.
Try it on one...
It doesn't matter what direction. The light point has the line over it and the heavy point is directly opposite. So as long as you start the low point rolling over high it works.
I don't know what difference it really makes. I get that any difference is minimal. But like everything with golf...
I've used the salt solution.
The lightest point of the ball floats pointing directly up. You mark that point and draw a line. Putt with that line and the ball rolls light over heavy and not side by side so it should roll straight.
I was told by someone who got very into it that you could...
Open stance will generally present more loft at impact than a closed stance which may explain the difference. However winter conditions will certainly be helping.
Am I ready??? Haven't played since late October!
Need to get myself some practice in over March and April to try and kick on in May.
Last season saw my handicap go from knocking on the door of 2 up to 5 and was not a good year. New parenthood has taken affect and all my golf was in competition...
Late to the party here but, going through similar, here's my thoughts-
I am rereading some Rotella to get my head right, you'll pick up some nuggets that help.
Take the positives from the rounds you play, they are always a few.
Try and not play as much competitive stuff just now. Issue with...
I'm 38 and firmly believe that when my ability goes or diminishes I'll be done. My enjoyment really comes from the battle to improve and trying to be competitive.
That said, when it happens I reckon I'll likely have a change of heart.
There's an underground stream at our place. In exactly the landing area of the two holes it runs under. Open it up and turn one simple hole into one with a decision. The other hole is a long par 4. I'd extend it to a par 5 with the stream coming into play for second shots for a lot of players...
Was fitted there last month. Book for 150 and in the comments add that you would like to look at other fairway wood options too. £150 is charged if you don't buy anything. Fitting is free if you do.
I can't see it being anything but out of balance. If the handicap system was working properly there would be at least some dispersion that includes Cat 1 golfers. Club golf is almost all about handicap competition.
