    Golf Monthly Top 100

Course is for sure busy over Summer but on weekdays members have the tee until 11am, between 12.30 and 13.30 and after 3.30 and all day Saturday and Sunday until 12.30. So if you can be a little flexible in your timing it works ok. 2026 there will be no visitors on Fridays either so we’re...

    Golf Monthly Top 100

Not that I know of. In fact once you’ve played the hole a few times you see the best line in is from the left so most of us aim over there anyway. Takes the “valley of sin” out of play.

NBWL has insurance in place to cover damage to cars and housing if you are wayward on the 18th. Simply report to the CH or proshop or starter. Same if you car is on the receiving end of an ill-struck ball.

    New Courses I played 2024

Not in my opinion, 2 is just as good as 1 for me (and maybe even better). 3 is less good than either 1 or 2, it's a good bit shorter but fun nonetheless less. 3 often has the best greens of all the courses. 2 & 3 make for a great 36 hole day in the summer time.

    Mid handicap Vs scratch

I had to play a scratch tie against a +3 guy last year. A rough bit of arithmetic suggested that if we both played to handicap during the match I'd lose 5 & 4 on the 14th green. So my challenge to myself was to take it past the 14th, if I did that I could be happy with how I had competed...

    Crazy green fees?

No different to other choices we have when deciding how (and whether) to spend our money - green fees, concert tickets, fancy wine, new drivers and Pro V1s are all firmly in the 'what the market will bear' categories.

    Qualification for your CC

Three medals are nominated by the club as Championship qualifiers, with your best 2 from 3 gross scores making up your qualifying score. Best sixteen gross qualifying scores move to scratch matchplay with the final being 36 holes. Only proper golfers have any chance of getting to the...

    Multi tees competitions.

Yes, most of our 'big' comps have mandated tees but we have quite a few midweek medals etc where players can choose which tee to play from.

    CR-Par

Only for stableford competitions I think.

    CR-Par

In a world where we are increasing seeing mixed-tee competitions the notion of 36 pts being 'playing to you handicap' is out the window anyway, and this will remain so after the change to CR-Par. Don't see the need for the change myself but frankly most folks at my place have given up trying to...

    Golf club black tie functions

Black Tie Gents dinner once a year. Usually pretty well attended and a good night out. We're lucky that many members can walk/stagger home.
