Mizuno irons

Hi Bob, I feel that if I pass comment it will sound like I'm trying to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs. But here goes all the same. I was custom fitted at a Mizuno centre because I like Mizuno clubs. I'm sure most of the major club manufacturers would have something in their range that...

    Looks painful!

Imagine if they used donkeys instead of bulls, international pressure would soon ban "donkey fighting".

    Useful chipping techniques.

Homer's original reply differed from the 8 iron idea by favouring a lob wedge with an open stance. This has to be the best method of getting it close from the scenario you describe. When Phil Mickleson plays this shot he has the benefit of a championship course groomed over the last 6 months...

My putting was rotten today - My excuse...............

How many par 5's are there on your course? ;)

    Putting is holding me back.....grrrrr

Don't look at your ball when you take your practice putts! This really works for me particularly on longer putts, but I use this technique on all of my putts now. When you set up to take a practice putt, position yourself over the ball as if you were taking the putt then move a couple of inches...

    Putting is holding me back.....grrrrr

Perhaps the tip I was given is a well known one but I hadn't seen it before. At the end of my daughters greenside lesson, I mentioned to the pro that I was having trouble on the fast greens at St Enodoc and couldn't adjust to the pace. He invited me to set up for a putt and go through my...

    Putting is holding me back.....grrrrr

One last question; when you set up to putt do you take a practice putt and if so, what exactly do you do?

    Putting is holding me back.....grrrrr

Are your putts generally short or long, or are you unable to read the green but ok for length? Is there, in general, a common theme to your three putting at the moment? I got a great tip from the pro while watching my daughter having a lesson on holiday last year at St Enodoc GC, Cornwall. I...

Not had one for 24 hours!

In retrospect, this device could be the answer to all our prayers: Tobacco Smoke Enema (1750s-1810s) The tobacco enema was used to infuse tobacco smoke into a patient's rectum for various medical purposes, primarily the resuscitation of drowning victims. A rectal tube inserted into the anus...

I'm getting married, very soon !

Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage. At least you'll be guaranteed the weather on the day. Hope all goes well and you remain sober long enough to get the important bits right!

Let's hope he learned his lesson and you can enjoy a game with him in 2012. Three years should be a long enough stretch for him to be rehabilitated back into golf society.

Not had one for 24 hours!

Hapless, I was a smoker up until 2 1/2 years ago. I had been smoking for over 30 years and neither I or my friends thought I would ever be able to give it up. I "gave up" loads of times but barely lasted more than 48 hours, and some of those occasions were only due to catching flu or suffering...

A couple of years ago I experienced exactly the same thing when I barged through a four ball. Nigel Osler :D

What are the best greens you've ever played on?

If you live in gods county you don't have to know many other courses! Suffice to say I travel south 300 miles every year to play the greens and fairways of the Church course, St Enodoc.
