Does your club require a minimum number of Acceptable Scores before winning prizes in a Competition.

Late response but I hope some of this is constructive. 1. I sense bringing post that you believe that your additional qualification element would somehow magically make a dramatic change to some people's handicaps? I am afraid that 3 more handicap lines simply aren't going to do this. Anyone...

    Hitting a Stake ?

Same thing - rub of the green, play it as it lies. For anyone thinking it's unfair consider the flagstick...you are aiming at it but if you hit it you often end up worse off than if you don't!

Does .4 Degrees of Loft Really Make a Difference?

Adding loft will only keep the ball in the air longer (over a horizontal distance) if you have sufficient club head speed (and then ball speed) and will also be impacted by ball spin (increased by loft spin when adding loft and everything else is constant). Closing a club face promotes a pull...

    Query on taylormade shaft adapters

They have changed them in as much as there are different degree options and associated elements. However, you will often find that they are fundamentally compatable , even if the detailed functionality varies. This applies even across the M2 range and year models, from memory, so you may need...

    Kent golf

As well as can be expected - thank you. I've been taking a break from online content for a period ?

Poll - What Irons do you play with?

Old ones, 're shafted with a set of shafts from Crow and 're griped with Jumbo grips to help with my arthritic hands. R9TPs - famously listed as pretty much the most unforgiving irons ever made. As a masochist at heart this also appeals

    Matchplay - Get 12 or Give 9

Doesn't matter - even thinking about it in these terms has you on the back foot. 1. You are in it to win it so will have to beat both anyway 2. To win it you need to focus on your performance, not get distracted by the endless possibilities of theirs.

What's your ideal time to turn up for a game of golf?

30 mins before the temperature reaches 20° and the rain has stopped...

    Hardest hole v SI 1

I think it's interesting to consider how, statistically, a hole is designated hard/hardest. There are holes that are inherently hard to par (typically long holes) and there are holes that are fraught with danger, but can be pars for everyone from time to time. Using standard software the latter...

    Hardest hole v SI 1

From memory you have to be below he hole on 8 as well...which makes the pin position a major factor in how the hole plays each time...

Which country would you move to.

Ojai, but I couldn't afford it. Key West, but my liver couldn't handle it. The boss says we are staying here, so I've stopped worrying about it - and just accept the base cost of living is high, it rains, and I spend my time and spare cash travelling elsewhere.

    closed golf club

Would just point out that (1) shouldn't be anyone fishing the rivers now anyway, because it's closed season (some lakes are exempt but I don't think the rivers are) (2) fishing is also specifically off currently, by government rules, in exactly the same way as golf.

Is your club Charging Fees for the time the course will be closed?

Fair point Paul, I agree that the wording is at best clumsy in that area. The reference to other members is probably based on history where a club has tried to help a member, and I've seen this big time in the past, but is their issue not the audience's. The reference to other clubs is just...

Is your club Charging Fees for the time the course will be closed?

Don't understand the veiled threat bit? They are highlighting the realities of fairway credit in response to a high level of enquires from people who clearly don't understand it.

Is your club Charging Fees for the time the course will be closed?

Whilst it's hard not to be impressed by the actions of some clubs (post above) it's equally hard not to appreciate the key issue for many - which at the moment will be 'what, and for how long?' but will also increasingly include 'what is the likely longer term impact on the club/ business?'. The...
