Ok, kinda new to golf, newish, started learning to play 2 summers ago not played too much this last year due to my wife giving birth to twins, but now they are 10 months old I am able to sneak out from time to time and get some practice in at the range. But when I manage to find time and someone...
Thank you all for your suggestions, there's plenty there for me to look at.
By the way. I beat my dad for the first time yesterday haha.....never knew he would be such a bad loser, he gave up after 15 holes! He was playing pretty bad though!
I beat my last score but still was dire, 124 :(...
New to golf. Going out today for my 4th go on golf course....can't wait...hoping it goes better than the last 3 times haha.
But I was wondering if there is a good book that gives you all the rules of golf, and also etiquette of golf would be handy. I know the general rules of golf, but reading...
I'm new to golf...so not really positioned to give advice. But as being new to golf this happens to me all the time, I will start off hitting the ball crisp and clean and straight and then one bad shot will lead to a load of bad shots. What I finds gets be back on track is going back down again...
I will join a club next year, there is 6 within 5 miles from me, but some are very long, one is over 7000 yards, most par 4's at about 400 yards.....beginner level as I am, I will try go for one thats ver average. One course is only 5000 yards, i played it and had a nightmare. Definately a...
I agree with both above comments.
Actually, I do agree with the 99 the most. If i had started learning and had only tried to guide the club through but hit the ball cleanly and it carried 100 yards with a 6 (that was first club i held) then I would never of started to feel that snapping feeling...
I cant hit a 5 iron 218 and a driver 270. Wish i could haha. 218 seems a very specific yardage.
But for your point, yes I agree, I dont want to take power off to get it straight (or perhaps I might a little when next on course) but my instructor seems to have the same philosophy, right from the...
I've not read the whole thread.
But I just thought I would chip in. I am new to golf, started playing in june. I hit the ball 170-180 yards with a 5 hybrid off the floor, 160-170 6 iron and so on, about 220 with 3w on a tee and about 250 with driver.
But this is all on a driving range, I hit...
Thanks. Warming up is a good idea and I wil do it from now on, hopefully it wont be recurring...but who knows.
I have a lesson with a pro every week, in fact it was towards the end of of my lesson that I injured myself. My teacher is Laurie taylor, he's quite old but is very good and has...
Thanks to everyone for the advice and information. I will certainly take head of the info provided, especially re not going back too soon and stretches. I think it was probably quite lucky I was on holiday for 3 weeks as I would have probably tried to go back sooner if I was home.
Good advice, thats actually something I dont do, warm up that is. I do tend to hit a few pitch shots first anyway, as it give me a bit of feel, but stretching is definitely a good idea. Will have to look up how to stretch them muscles. Pleased you also seem to be ok after getting used to swing...
Yep, thats exactly it, just googled it.
"These muscles can become strained often as a result of rapid twisting of the torso and are common in sports such as basket ball and tennis"
Looks like I am grade 1 strain, but will definitely have to watch out for this in the future.
Thanks for the...
Yeah sounds like me, when I pulled it, it hurt to breath, coughing was painful, and sneezing is a disaster, which is a bit of pain for me as I am one of them people that sneezes when they go from dark light to bright light, like when walking outside on a sunny day.
Hopefully its not gonna...
I'm new to golf, but really got the bug. I started learning to play golf in June, all was going well while I was learning to hit irons on the range, I then started to learn to hit the driver. This was going fine for a while (very many slices though) but after being told by my instructor my swing...
Thanks winbase and foliage finder.
Firstly winbase. I kinda know that a mat isnt going to make me a great putter, but I was so much a fish out of water, hopefully it will give me a feel for how the ball comes off the club, I was SO shocked at how fast it came off. I do agree though, I need some...
