That is exactly the point
I never enter a comp or a match with an expectation of winning or even being in the top 6.
But, I have to believe that if I play well, then maybe I have a chance.
Why enter anything when you know that even if you break the course record (never going to happen) you...
Interesting comments guys.
It obviously varies from club to club & no doubt there are some who haven't experienced what I have.
To put my comments into context.
I had a discussion the other day where I commented to a senior section official that I think our course ground conditions are usually...
That's it, I've had enough, I quit.
Senior Matches & comps taking 5 & half hours
Stood on the tee box or in the fairway waiting & waiting.
& the handicaps!!! So cheesed of with having to give 15 or 20 shots, they then proceed to play to about 10.
The handicaps are a work of fiction, how the...
Didn't work for me.
I had a Taylormade Aeroburner mini driver.
I could hit a normal 3 wood just as far & accurately of the tee as I could the mini driver.
Off the deck?
3 wood, no problem
Mini driver? Unless it was sat up, no chance.
A mini driver wasn't versatile enough for me.
Sold mine.
Don't bother.
I've heard all the excuses.
New player, returning player, a hot round, blah blah.
Yes, I fully accept that every now & again someone puts in a really hot round.
But, that should be an exception.
These sorts of scores are now the norm at my club, always from players with 20+ H/C
I'm...
Interestingly.
We have just had our first 2x Board comps of the season.
1st one won by a 21 H/C at 12 under H/C
2nd one won by a 24 H/C at 10 under H/C
Dunno why I bother with the comps tbh.
I would just be better off just putting in GP cards, cos their is no way I'm ever going to get near 10...
Yes, we do have a reciprocal scheme that was once good value.
But now, the price has risen year on year.
Now, it's not really any cheaper than the county card.
We only have one free reciprocal which is not within realistic travel distance.
It's pretty poor really
My home course does book in...
I'm seriously considering joining a 2nd club in April as a flexible member.
My local course (5 mins away) is OK, but a bit of a bog in winter + tbh the greens are nothing special, there are times when they have opens or societies its not possible to play, so a 2nd course is starting to make...
Hi.
I'm thinking of attending the Ladies AIG Open at Royal Porthcawl.
It's about a 240 mile round trip for me & I'm wondering about parking & access to the course?
How bad is it likely to be?
Anyone know?
If it is likely to be horrendous I'll either think about a B & B the night before somewhere...
Absolutely no.
I enjoy my wherever I play (only 2 exceptions to that in 10 years)
I don't need to pay extortionate prices to enjoy a day's golfing, plus my game probably wouldn't do it justice anyway.
I've been looking at all the offerings just lately.
I'm impressed with some of the equipment levels & tech inside the cabin.
However, I think EV's are in their infancy atm.
I can't get past the huge cost in both purchase price & depreciation.
Also for me the major drawbacks are.
Vehicle weight...
I'm rather late to this discussion, although I have posted something very similar in the past.
The discussion usually takes the form of those who have experienced it themselves & agree that it is a huge & growing problem within the game & those (for whatever reason?) choose who to excuse it by...
My take on these irons is.
They are extremely easy to hit
With a half decent swing, they are very consistent
They go extremely high
They are about a club shorter distance with than a normal set of irons
They are primarily aimed at the 18+ h/c golfer
If you play on a windy links course, they...
