Things that gladden the heart?
The old (~70ish) guy who plays on our local public course every day. A retired builder who hacks his way around with a motley collection of rescued clubs (once told me proudly how he'd retrieved a broken driver and had it re-shafted for nz$100). Always has a beer...
Getting back to the original question ... I have two putters.
A cheap Hippo thing (half or one-third mallet, a bit like a wide Ping Anser) that came with my first set of clubs but stayed in use long after the other clubs had been discarded.
A Ping Sigma-G Darby that I've used for the last...
A Ping Glide 3 wedge, 56* standard sole, to replace the Cleveland RTX2 CB wedge I've been using for a few years.
The Cleveland was (is) quite low bounce (8*) and has always been a bit variable for me. So far the Ping is a lot more consistent.

To my eternal shame, I have actually done this.
It was after the group behind (one person in that group actually) had hit three successive tee shots into us despite our protests. His ball landed just a few metres behind me and I clonked it back.
Since I hit it with my PW there was no danger of...
I play with a single club quite often, it's a brilliant exercise to get me back on track when my game has gone a bit south generally.
Usually play with either a 6 or 8 iron though my scores aren't all that different since most of our par 4s are just outside two-shot range for my 6. The 8 is...
Play this way most of the time. Just can't be bothered lugging around a bunch of clubs I rarely, if ever, use. So my "full" set is Driver, 20*Hybrid, 6, 8, PW, 54, Putter. If I'm feeling minimalist, I'll go with the Hybrid, PW and putter only. Or just my 8 iron :)
Our course is relatively short...
In general, I'd recommend a stand bag for convenience and keeping everything dry in winter.
I have an Ogio Fuse 4 for my "full" set (only 7 clubs anyway) which is pretty much as light as the Sun Mountain 2.5 I had before but much better made. It can also be set up with a single strap, which I...
As far as I can see it, this would be easiest way to deal with the professional game without affecting everyone else. Just limit the pros to a minimum loft of, say, 20 degrees, with an appropriate shaft length and maybe head volume too.
You could even go the whole hog and create a specific PGA...
Alternatively, there's always this ... https://sundaygolf.com/collections/loma-bag-series/products/loma-gray
Super-light, but I guess you have to be a bit hipster to carry it off.

I had an original Sun Mountain 2.5 (the version made from what appears to be spinnaker cloth), which was truly excellent. That lasted four years and is still functional if a bit faded and worn looking.
This year I switched to an Ogio Fuse 4, which is a touch heavier, a touch smaller but a heap...
True, but how many novices are really accounting for handicap?
Most of the casuals and novices around these parts are tracking their total score (give or take a few strokes for mulligans, lost balls and excusable cock-ups). Giving themselves a few organised strokes for handicap isn't going to...
