I heard a wee whisper at the weekend that due to the course being shut a few times over the winter with the bad weather the winter members have been given an extra months play til the end of April to compensate.

The Winter Members are given an extra 2 weeks due to the course being closed for 3 weeks in January if my memory serves me right. I can understand why the decision was made, it doesn't cost the club any money and makes the Winter Members feel valued and therefore more likely to rejoin next year, maybe even become Full Members.
I understand i have a different perspective than the members of the club but as a business decision, i can see where the club is coming from.

I’ll be a little controversial here……..I’m not sure if winter members should be made to feel any more valued, most of them go else where in the summer. While it might bring new members, it don’t need another couple of weeks for them to make their minds up surely.

The real value to winter members is getting winter golf at a knock down price, albeit for a short period of time. I’ll go even further, it’s the winter member who should value the club.

Thommo, they're probably already turning their backs on their home clubs as the inland courses suffer more during a normal wet winter.

With all this weather the winter members will be playing the summer cup.............
