Hey, any decade that had Prince in his prime, Kate Bush in hers, Talk Talk releasing Spirit of Eden, quality Bowie, New Order, The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys, The Pixies, Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy Division and Happy Mondays is OK by me. ;)

I'll second that. Some eras seem to present great music to you mainstream, others you have to work a little harder to find it. For me 60's 70's & 80's I found it easier to find things mainstream, nowadays I have to hunt a little harder and seem to be looking more back catalogues or older artists than the current crop of mainstream which does little for me, odd bit here and there but nothing standout.
