Had a conversation at work today on this, So what is your fave era for music?

Ironically the consensus was the 80's were the worst, but i disagree.

New wave, goth, Indie, Manchester and Rave, the 80's had it all.

personal faves;
Smiths, New Order, Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses, plus too many others to mention.

so whats yours?

Tricky. The 80's were my formative years and so have the most imprint and resonance on the stuff I was doing. That said I love the 70s and glam rock, prog rock, the breakthrough of Queen etc

My growing up and school years were the 80's so that is what I like most. Didn't think much of it at the time but now it is the era I listen to more than any other. I suspect memories linked to music has a lot to do with it.

i can just see you down the disco with your white socks and wedge cut mullet, dancing to wham and kajagoogoo:rofl:

70’s. Started off with Slade, “c’mon feel the noise.” Then Bowie and Yes, Pink Floyd and Genesis.

Mid 60s to early 70s for me followed by 90/00s

All decades had their good music but I think the 80s had more than its fair share of dross and so for me is the worst decade

Partly right. We didn't dance to New Romantics though. Lads only got up to dance when The Jam or Madness came on. Dance to Wham 😱😱. Behave.

I was talking to my cousin and here 22 yr old son over Christmas. We started to reminisce and he talked about going clubbing. I laughed about white socks in the 80's and how the lights in clubs made them stand out, along with any other white in your shirt or similar. Pity the poor girl in a top where her white bra became illuminous, ha ha. Happy days. Apparently the light in clubs is different now so they don't get the same chuckle.

90's for me as that's when I did my growing up and was a massive Indie music fan. So many good bands around, was at the Barrowlands on a regular basis along with traipsing round festivals and Loch Lomond/Knebworth etc etc. Good times.

Late 80s and early 90s, when raving was at it best.

Although I bought my son a Fender for Christmas and im enjoying him belting out Deep purple, Led Zepplin and the like.

Madness, The Jam, Soft Cell, New Order, later Bowie, The Communards, Erasure (I think they were 80's), Queen, for fun you had Wham and the New Romantics. There was dross in every era. Plenty in the 80's but there was plenty in every era.

There were some quality bands and songs from that decade.
