X2hot vs i25 irons

I don't play them, but...

X2Hot seems just a new version of the X20s whereas the I15s seem a move towards 'players' style.

Have you actually hit either of them? Or the other 'possibles' that you may have rejected?

Worth spending a couple of hours trying out various combos of head/shaft to find what works best for you. Many folk are surprised that the ones they think will be right for them come a distant 2nd (or worse) to others.

Also worth listing down and weighting your actual criteria for selection. That takes a lot of emotion/image out prospective purchase - and there is a lot of that involved in buying golf clubs! Don't forget to include your current ones either - you might even find that they come out on/near the top!

I've hit the x2hot demo and g25 it felt nice but think its bit big sole wise so that's why I was wondering about the i25 instead .
I don't want to go into the shops as I know they are only interested in pushing you to their preferred brands

I figured that was the reason! Bit ironic an X20 player calling G25s 'big soled' though isn't it! I'd reject G25s for the same reason, so that 'image' reason could prevent me getting the best fit - but 'pretty', as opposed to fugly, comes high in my criteria!

I'd suggest you explain why you are in the shop - to audition without them pushing - and either walk out, explaining to the Shop Manager why they've lost the potential sale, or challenge them to offer you a big discount from their extra commission, or simply cash if the numbers don't stack up, if/when they push their preferred brand. That's worked for me in the past!

Yes I know the x20 are big soled that's why I don't want the same when I change them

I switched to X2 Hot iron about 4 weeks ago. They are really long and easy to hit and I'd certainly recommend giving them a try.

Why not save yourself a small fortune and buy some i20's. They're identical. Even on the trackman 'identical'

Make sure you try them out first. I went to AG on Friday and bought the X hot 3 deep fairway wood, and got sick of waiting for another customer in the test room. It was the same shaft as my driver so thought it should be ok. What a mistake that was !! One decent hit in 20 goes, yet no probs with the driver.

I've hit the X2 Hots and the I20's (sorry, not the I25'S.). The X2 Hots were surprisingly good. The ball flight was lower than I got with the Pings (both with stock stiff shafts), and the distance from the X2 Hots was exceptional.. I'd have no issue using the X2's, even if they are a bit chunky...

Edit - They are both very easy to hit, even with the Cally's longer shafts...

Can't speak for the X-Hot 2 however the original X-Hot is Avery easy to launch, forgiving, accurate iron that feels almost butter soft off the face.

The Ping is a pin point accurate iron with good forgiveness for a better players iron.

The main difference apart from top line and physical size is the offset and forgiveness.

The Ping is designed to shape shots the Callaway to keep them straight. Any natural fade will be amplified with the Ping however the Callaway will keep them straight.

Distance wise there wasn't much in it despite the difference in loft.

i25/20 can't ever be described as having wide soles but they ain't "waffer-thin" either.

X2's and i25 are not really comparable - if you want a narrower sole but plenty of forgiveness try the X2 Hot Pro - much more comparable to i25.

Switched to I25's a few months back and very happy with them. Forgiving enough for me and I'm getting a few more yards certainly compared to the G25 and TM TP's I was using prior to the change. Not the thinnest top line in the world but better than the G25. The sole isn't that wide and never really an issue for me anyway once the club is on the ground

I was fitted for the I25s at the GM PING day, and I'm getting on with them very nicely...

Obviously it'll be down to personal preference, but I switched from TM R9s, and they look very similar at address, which I like, but I've gained a few yards, and tightened up dispersion.
