Not golf related but thought I'd ask, I'm looking to buy a sat nav and was wondering if anyone might be selling one here, or give some advice on what to buy or avoid

Cheaper getting plenty of data on your phone, using google maps and connecting your phone through your radio, no?

You can try my old Tomtom satnav, not sure if it still works or of any use, but it's free.
Thanks Billy I might take you up on that, I'm looking into these android ones, they look the part seems to be quite easy to diy them as a direct replacement for the radio

My Mrs and our children have the Waze app on the phones.

She used it yesterday when we were stuck in traffic on the A1...the app showed us exactly what had happened and where...our Sat Nav didn't. Looked pretty good. Yesterday is my one and only experience of it, but judging by the fact that the app told her that there was 1000+ Waze users in the area (no idea what 'area' that was) and many (100+?) had reported the brake down that was causing the issue - it is clearly popular.

BTW - she had plugged the phone into the car system using Apple Connect and so the Smartphone display was mirrored onto the car display screen.

Yes I think they all run off the same system it's just the way the data is delivered that's different, were Waze is good is user info in real time

Another one for Waze. As a sat nav I don’t use it as such, the one in the Seat is excellent.but any sign of a hold up and it/ Waze is excellent at finding alternative routes.

Waze was an independent system originally that crowdsourced its info (either behind the scenes as users drove about, or users directly notifying it of incidents/police etc)... Google then bought the company behind it and have integrated its data into Google Maps.

I assumed Google would have amalgamated them into a single app by now (with Waze being the car navigation tab within Google Maps) but they seem to be keeping them separate but linked.
