Would like a new putter - no idea where to start

It would be worth going to one of the golf superstores and trying some out. Look at what your budget is going to be and try lots of different styles, you'll soon find the type that suits your putting style.

This would be my preferred starting point. Find something that suits your eye and the way you putt and then once you've a type of putter in mind and really want to get a fit the go from there.

Tried out a few in American Golf on Sunday. It's difficult to get a feel for them on the small carpeted green in there, but they did a quick eyeline test and recommended a moderate toe hang. I liked the feel of the Odyssey putters they had in there though, and I've now booked a putter fitting at EM Golf on Christmas Eve. I'd be really happy to get a fitted Odyssey putter out of it I think. Looking forward to it now, still nearly two weeks away though.

Cheers for all your advice.

Always confused me in the UK why they only have those tiny little putting greens. Over here Golfsmiths have huge greens. One of them down the road has an indoor putting green that is about 20x30 yards, it is one of those high end indoor putting greens too.
