For January (at least) I have cut out any added sugar in my diet - in tea, on cereal etc and dropped the ale too.

I was real heavy on the sugars, 2 in my 7+ cups of tea per day - packet of Tangfastics on nearly very car trip!!

Had a blinder of a headache come on yesterday afternoon and after a good night's sleep have woken up with what feels like a hangover worse than I have ever had before.

My head hurts, my joints ache, I feel tired, my muscles hurt - just had no real comprehension on what effect the stuff has on you!!!

Hopefully today will be the breakthrough and start feeling better from tomorrow.....

me too, my mrs tried to get me to do some detox thing last year, the caffeine withdrawal headaches were unbearable! i think i lasted a day and a half!

A mate of mine last year had to go doctors as felt the same way as you describe. First thing he ask is has anything changed in you life style. He says he has given up smoking, sugar, caffeine and drink at the start of march. Doctors reply was are you stupid. Cut Them out yes but not at the same time.

its worse if you were using white sugar.........

good news is you will feel better within 48rs and your body will thank you for it, lots of water initially to help the 'flushing out'

My body isn't thanking me for it yet. Cutting out the alcohol for a month may turn out to be one of my more stupid ideas.... It's only been 36 hours and I feel like I've got a hangover already...

That's where I am DV - I better feel the benefits from this or I'll be gutted!!! Pain and no gain!! :(

Apart from the caffeine headaches when I stopped drinking coffee, the thing I found worse was Chinese take aways, eating them not giving them up. A lot of Chinese use MSG an I've found that MSG and me do not agree.

I would have a couple of beers and a Chinese on friday night, saturday morning the headaches were almost unbearable, so I cut out the beer, thinking it was a hangover, but the headaches still happened, then the mother in law read about the MSG thing, so I stopped the chinese and low and behold no headache the following day.

To replace coffee and milk I'll drink green tea, still full of caffeine, but better for you than coffee.

I get headaches from missing out on my cuppa's. I don't think it's the sugar though as I did a stint on sweetners and had no side-effects (apart from the disgusting taste!)

I went from 40+ beers a week (and all the sugar) 2 in my tea (5+ cups pers day) plus sweets snacks etc to zero overnight when the pancreas nearly went bang 6 years ago. Mind you I was on two drips, and sedated in ICU for a week at the time. Tea tasted crap for weeks after coming home but it is second nature now
