As for world rankings, I don't really see the point. You don't win anything for being world #1.

The only thing you "win" is entry to the biggest tournaments, the majors and WGC events. Pretty useful for those at the top.

People from Northern Ireland can choose to be Irish if they wish and get an Irish passport issued from the Republic of Ireland.

It confuses those not from our lovely isle, I know.

Then throw in Northern Irish and Ulstermen for good measure
