Just spotted the Cleveland advert (page 37 of the latest GM) and it is stating that 10 of the 11 official world number ones used Cleveland Wedges?
I'm struggling to believe that
Langer
Seve
Norman
Faldo
Woosie
Couples
Price
Lehman
Els
Duval
and
Vijay (thats 11 without you know who)
all used Cleveland wedges.
Obviously a company would not make this up.
The wedge looks interesting, but the advert has put more questions in my head as the claim seems to good to be true?
Good advert? Yes or No

What they're actually saying is that at one time or another they've all used Cleveland. Don't forget it was one of the first specialist wedge manufacturers and almost everybody used them.
Don't think they have that much coverage now!

I had a couple of CG12's and they were pretty good but nowadays, Vokey, TM TP , Cally X series are all much of a muchness and it depends on the look and how they feel more than one being any better techically

In the late 80s and early 90s Clevland had the wedge market sewn up. They were the wedge of choice !!

So it's hardly surprising that all the big boys played them. :D

Misleading.

Most of these guys have used different wedges at different times of the big wedge names at some time. Most will have used Vokey wedges too, and a few have used Ping and Nike. Faldo also used Mizuno wedges at his peak, more often than Cleveland, I reckon.

This is probably the point. I can believe all the players HAVE used them at some point.

It's a pointless claim, what are the current top 10 using?

I'd say it's a good advert - after all it made you start a thread about it, the name Cleveland has been quite a few times and it's made some people remember when Cleveland made the best wedges.
I'd have thought they are the things that make for a good advert.

A good advert I say, it's got us talking and I'm certain it's true. As someone said, Cleveland were very popualr once. They were one of the first wedge specialists (as well as Ram and Hogan). I'm pretty certain that Faldo used Cleveland in the earlier Nineties when he was contract to Mizuno. He had three in the bag for the 1990 Open.
