After yesterday's first blast of Summer and a great round, I now find myself on a commuter train heading towards Paddington and looking out at another lovely day.

Good mate of mine and my age took early retirement last week and is playing later this morning.

But am I jealous?

HELL YEAH!!

Still, somebody has to grind the wheels of industry, don't they? But why does it have to be ME?!

*Sobs*

I'm sort of semi retired. Forced into part time 12 years ago. Loved it. Now my hours have dropped even further due to the company I work for being idiots, and not forward looking, my wage has now dropped to below what I need. I'm now looking for full time. Wifey doesn't want me to, as I do everything in the house. Now work have dangled a carrot that we may go back to our original hours.
My point is......check your finances carefully. Reign in what you don't need. Sky, £30 a month contract mobile, £10 bottles of wine. New laptop every 12 months etc etc, whatever it is you spend on and then look at what you actually NEED. Food, heating, clothes (checkout smiffys asda polos) I'm sure there are more out there that could retire now, or at least go part time !!!

Off all week and wandered up to the club to practice this morning. Fairways and greens being cut and it looked a picture. Playing on Thursday and Friday and weather set fair. Short game lesson tomorrow (after diabetic eye screening in the morning which could prove interesting) and could get use to this not working lark (except the lack of money coming in)

Got mine next Friday! Has interrupted my planned Friday afternoon round of golf!

Good luck with it. Got full on diabetic day tomorrow as I've got my annual diabetic review at the doctors at five (and no doubt donating another arm of Homer 66). Short game lesson in between and then might hit the club for nine holes if the appointment is vaguely on time.
