Anyone been watching Wimbledon ? Slept overnight to get centre court tickets for Thursday. Was treated to 3 great matches including the fantastic nadal rosol match.

Also appeared on tv several times due to wearing multicoloured wigs and started a Mexican wave.

The atmosphere on centre was unbelievable, especially the last match.

Anyone going to Wimbledon/been watching it on the tele ?

First time in about 10 years that I am not going on any of the days. HID is an LTA member and is involved in tennis coaching at Harrow Leisure Centre so normally pick up tickets through her connections. Absolutely love it down there and have seen some absolute cracking matches over the years. Just finished watching the Federer match and was seriously worried that he was on his way out - best player I have ever seen and I hope he wins his 7th title this year.

Just for future reference, can you pick up tickets for mates? (and winning partners ;))

Always wanted to go and would love to experience it one year.

Sounds like you had a great day glad you enjoyed it.

Tried for last 8 years for tickets, closed shop and can't sleep outside for them, maybe one day.

Just go there - during the first week. Entry is not all that hard and there are plenty of great matches on the 'back' court. You can then Q for a couple of the 'Public' show courts (well you could a few years ago).

You can also get tickets for the main courts after a certain time at greatly reduced price - as punters are encouraged to deposit tickets on their way out. Proceeds go to the designated charities.

Men's R4 or QF day is still the best days to get tickets for. Great matches and still plenty of them!

I had a friend/neighbour who was an LTA offical.

His best story {circa 1970} was of the loudmouthed American woman who was complaining about her ticket. Demanding to see the man in charge.
On inspection a tout had sold her a green rover bus ticket to Wimbledon for £30.

If you want to see the best players in the world the ATP World Tour finals at the O2 at the end of the year is cheaper, comfortable and easy to get tickets for.....

cant stand the game to be honest its a bit like golf from decades ago only played by middle class in this country, when there is an ENGLISH player who comes from a council estate and from a single parent who is on the dole i will give it a look, and have you noticed its wall to wall on the beeb is this because they have lost all the other sports?

So when you say you started a mexican wave, you mean you were the first of you and your 4 mates. No-one else looked remotely interested

I'm not sure about this pulling the roof over and turning the lights on.

A bit like having floodlights down the fairways at the Open, it just doesn't seem right!
