This whole issue kicked off somewhere between 7-9 years ago so my memory is hazy. You need to google Chelsea Manning as it is the leaks from that source which Assange printed. Some showed abuses of power by soldiers but the claim is that the leaks were just a dump of information and some contained information that could have put American soldiers lives at risk. They were not selectively targetted leaks, they were a mass dump.

You would have to trawl through an awful lot of stuff to see who was right in all of this, perhaps some was good to release, some not so, but I think any country that has secret information leaked, some likely to be very sensitive, is obviously going to be very upset. If the information contained details that could threaten the safety of its soldiers, even more so. If someone would like to go through all of the pages then perhaps they can tell us all whether it was safe to leak or not.

Can someone summarise exactly what he has done wrong in regards releasing truthful information to the media ?

So he's not now an alleged rapist, simplt because he evaded the Sweidish authorities of rlong enough fo the charge to be dropped by them?
I'll be glad when hes gone, and perhaps contributing to Donalds wall in some way

Strange when the only thing that crops up is a video of a live attack from an American AC attacking a target which is claimed was a civilian target. These are all over the tinternet, why are the powers to be so concerned over this one, its an normal American oops moment and they have many of them.

Not really followed it too closely, but my understanding was the lesser charges are now statute barred, but the rape charge investigation was stopped as it was going nowhere, but it can still be resumed, which presumably it now may be as Assange would be available for trial.

The most interesting thing to me about this whole debacle was the UN claiming that Britain was keeping Assange imprisoned against his will without trial because he effectively could not leave the embassy. To me, this seemed a huge amount of mental gymnastics, when the man himself effectively imprisoned himself for the sole purpose of avoiding a trial.
