Dear readers. I'm looking for information for my father Dutch nationality, widower, age 75 (handicap 22) who has no internet and want this winter escape the bad weather for a 1-2 months (Jan-Feb) stay in Spain. I'm not into golf myself so I don't know what to look for. Anyone who can give me ideas and tips for such a period in cheap or good value hotel, resort or apartment with some variety of golf courses or people who have the same ideas or already did before I would love to here from. Kind regards, Jeroen

Wish I could help but I am sure someone will have some ideas for you, maybe this evening when the forum hots up a little.

I am not an expert in these matters but I think you can get some cheap long term lets in Spain pretty much anywhere in the winter.

I think that the cheapest would be up and around the Murcia area and there are a few courses aroung there, (Algorfa) and La Finca but weather might not be as good as it is further south in and around the Malaga area/ Andalucia.

My father in Law has a few places just outside Murcia at a place called Villamartin. He rents out 1 of the places which is a 3 bedroom house. The whole area is set up for Golf with La Romero, La Finca, Las Ramblas etc all on the doorstep. I think the weather this week was very iffy and belive it can be very hit and miss in the winter months. Steve In Spain is the man in the know about this area as he lives there.

Even rain falls in spain
i have people using my house this week in Andalucia - and its been torrential, some serious flooding down on the coast too

I have been to spain in winter many times - and it can be gloriously warm (altho cold at night, hot water bottle is needed and at least two duvets and your PJs) or it can rain for weeks on end

if he wants guaranteed sunshine - then i'd suggest further south - canaries?! ;)

I can certainly vouch for Gran Canaria - good weather all year round with plenty of courses to play, and all within a reasonable driving distance.

But just a warning - with all the extremes of weather around the world in recent times, nowhere is guaranteed!

My old man has got a place in Lanzarote available for long termI've got one for sale, see link below for long term rent. There is a couple of golf courses and you're pretty much guaranteed sunshine and a nice breeze. One course would be around 30 mins drive and one is closer don't know exact distance to be honest but I could find out if you're interested. his place is a 5 minute drive from Plata Blanca.
