Who the heck is Acer?

Via my scouring of eBay to try and find a cheap 3/4 iron to experiment with, I stumbled across this item:

Never heard of them though. Anyone know? Are they any good or is it junk?

I have been doing that. I guess I find it difficult to take a stab on something I haven't tried, hence why I'm on here asking advice every 5 minutes.

Pretty much anything from Callaway or Ping from 2005 onwards is going to be worth a punt.
X16/18/20, G10/15/20 are the ones to look for.
If your shafts are regular then a regular in the 4 iron won't be too far off.

I don't have a four iron spare but I do have spare 3 irons - a Big Bertha, Ping G2 & I think a Callaway X20.

Acer has been around for donkey's years.

I have just bought an Acer 29 degree hybrid head off them and am very happy with it.

I did fit a known brand of shaft.

In addition to the wgc offer, I have a G2 hl and Callaway fusion 4i in the shed from when I was on a similar quest. Am in Hertford. £25 for either or £40 the pair...both regular.

The fusion is the highest ranking in the maltby playability index iirc.

I ended up getting a ping g10 hybrid, which I found (still find) does more things well in that part of the bag

Bit like Callaway irons feel to me. And they're fugly.

Thanks mate. I have already contacted ArnoldArmChewer though and he has popped a Big Bertha 3 iron in the post to me to try, top man that he is.

If anything a 4 iron from one of these older sets might not be any good as the loft on it will actually be higher than that of my 5 iron, most likely. Hence the 3 iron should work nicely with a bit of luck.
