Which lawnmower

Cheers guys, thought there would be more love for Electric battery mowers, a bit like cars not yet as good for the same money? will have a look at the petrol options

If petrol works for you then all day its the option. Our front lawn is too small after taking half of it with the new driveway, even thought he back is larger, it wasn't 40cm+ petrol mower big.

Battery tech in mowers and power tools is a bit better than cars, as you will know from using the LXT battery tech (just got the 36v Makita LXT mitre saw and its superb).

I bought a G Tech battery mower in the Black Friday sale .
It was £500 but paid £249 .
It’s fantastic very powerful and great cut easy to use.
My garden is 150’ cuts it no problem.
I think it’s fantastic but at £500 not but half price bargain.

I had a battery mower and it was fine but needed a bigger model to deal with my lawn so my mistake. It is all down to price, I know that I can get an exceptional petrol mower for the less than the cost of the battery mower I would have needed.

I have a Honda petrol mower that has done startling service for 10 yrs but one of the best characteristics of it over my previous mountfield was noise, the mountfield was horrendously noisey and so is everyone that is used by my neighbours but my Honda is soo much quieter, worth bearing in mind.

cheers, John

I have a Bosch battery mower, it’s fine but I dropped am major goolie. 1, it’s narrower than the Bosch cable one it replaced. 2, the battery is not compatible with anything else.
I had a mountfield techumsi petrol mower which was fantastic but the garden got to small and fiddly to warrant keeping it. What ever you choose it wants a decent size box on the back so your not running up and down the garden emptying it.

If you want a decent clean & sharp cut a cylinder mower is essential. They also generally have the advantage of a shorter wheelbase so humps and bumps are not shaved if you want shorter grass. The big disadvantage is that they are significantly more expensive. I have had two motorised cylinders for many years but the last gave up the ghost 3 years ago and I bought a decent powered rotary but have found it awkward to manoeuvre around curved lawns. A neighbour died a couple of months ago and his widow has asked if I would be interested in his after she has it serviced. We agreed on a price and I can't wait to get back to a proper lawn mower.

I have two recycling bins one either end of the garden so it’s not a prob emptying it.

Typical forumite, asked for opinions, got lots of good advice then ignored it all and bought the one (or almost) that I planned to lol

First impressions, the mower (DLM432) is excellent. Deal on at the moment if you buy certain ones you get 2 additional 5ah Makita LXT batteries for free, which means as well buying a new mower Ive refreshed my power tool battery supply which was long overdue

For £350 I got the 43cm LXT mower, 4 5ah batteries and a dual charger, the bare bones mower is approx £200

Back lawn is approx 150ft by 60ft and took me about 45 mins and filled the grass collector 4 times, the 2 5ah batteries started to flash as nearly empty just as I finished

One thing I did learn, lawnmowers are like TVs, when you think you are buying big enough, buy the next size up (or the one after that lol)

I'll be interested to hear how it does. I've got a few Makita tools that use the same batteries and really rate them, but wasn't sure about taking the plunge with a mower.

Is it self propelled?

Funnily enough I took me mum to Morrisons today for the big shop..They have Mountfield petrol.mowets for sale for 159 I think it is.

We bought a cordless battery model last year as it was on special offer.
It's a Ryobi, and as all my other tools are Ryobi it made sense.
It was just over £100.00 and came complete with charger and 5amh battery. The batteries alone are over £70.00 so the mower itself was like for nothing!!
It's absolutely fine as long as you keep on top of things.
If you let the grass get slightly too long it runs out of puff and gives up.
