Hello all at Golf monthly.
Hoping to get some help with my golf.I know there are so many swing methods, but im hoping to find one which suits me.I have taken lots of lessons and the info I gt is correct, but I just can't get into these positions in the swing. What I am looking for is a type of method I can use which would suit my swing and just stick to copying that.
Here are my faults.
Little bit too much lateral movement in backswing.
Pulling of the butt of the club in downswing causing the shaft to get steep
Elbows too far from body in swing, no connection
Head goes up at impact like Stenson,Anika.
Irons off the heel, with the odd shank
Driver high right, sometimes low pull.
apart from that quite a nice swing :)

SWINGS IVE TRIED
stack and tilt - worked great with irons, but after a while stopped working
Jim hardy one plane - too much to think about
swinging the clubbed Ernest jones - Easy to do but probably not suitable for me

MY OWN FEELINGS
I like a swing where I use my shoulders and hips to swings don't like thoughts of where the hands and arms should be.im guessing I need a kind of compact swing idea, but needs to be simple.
Hope someone can help me, many thanks for taking time in reading this.kind regards David

Your swing path is out to in on the downswing which is causing some of your problems with possibly a problem with your grip too.
Have either of those issues been mentioned in your lessons?

thanks for reply.my grip is fine, my swing path shows the club been pushed out too far from me causing heel shots.but the point of my forum is to ask any one which swing method would suit me considering my faults.

There isnt one.
I would say the swing isnt moving away from you, its moving into you hence the high right/low left ball flight. The only difference being where the clubface is pointing at impact which is controlled by your grip which as I said may need adjusting.
The shots out of the heel could be just a dodgy set up position.

so my set up is excellent and also my grip.my arms don't stay connected to my body in downswing so the shaft gets steeper.i want a swing which feels more compact, connected, more feeling of turning back an through.i know its impossible for anyone to say what I am doing wrong without seeing my swing, but I just looking for a model, example, idea, where I can copy

There is no such thing as the right swing or model to copy. Get the fundamentals right and then get a decent pro (like Bob) to then help you mould the right swing for you and get you to focus on one or maybe two critical parts and not over think it as you clearly are!

Whats your handicap?

I've told you what you're doing wrong.
Your swing path is out to in.
You get to the top of your backswing, you throw the club outside the correct line which is above plane which is why it's steep in the downswing and out to in. When the c/face is square to the swingpath you get a low pull, when it's open you get a high fade/slice.

You need to fix your swingpath as it is one of the 5 laws in golf

Hi Fundy, yes your correct, too many thoughts not good.I have just had half hour with our local pro. it took him 5 mins to fix it.I was rotating my hands on start of backswing getting the club way too much inside, we worked on keeping club head in front of me throughout the swing.how much easier it felt to get through the ball was lovely.I play off 2 but for the past 6 months not played anywhere near it, struggling to break 80 at times.thanks for your help and good golfing.

welcome along

good image to help stop over the longer term the "rotating/rolling hands/forearms over at start back" (which also tends to lead to opening the face angle which causes strike issues back at impact) is for the first one foot of the hands/handle travel to keep the butt end of the club pointed at the torso (around the navel area) while also keeping the face angle looking more towards the ball

if this is tied in with the lead shoulder 'n lead arm feeling they move as one on start back can thenbecome a ways easier to stop the unwanted hands/forearms rotating from start coming back

one thing to watch out for ass this lead shoulder & arm start upper body rotation not to keep the lead shoulder high so flatter shoulder plane happening as this often times tends to encourage the hands/forearms to rotate & roll over

so remembering as the upper body rotates that lead shoulder has to move down & back - not just stay high from set-up & only move back

the long time issue with lateral hip sway is often times traced to not having a good pelvic angle at set-up - by that meaning say you wearing a belt the belt & buckle in set-up posture would be more angled down looking at the ball/target line as opposed to looking straight out forwards - good pelvic angle at set-up then allows a ways better the hip turn on a good angle & that turn being more 'into' the trail hip thigh - no real good optimum pelvic angle so hips more vertical at set-up tend to more encourage the lateral slide movement off the ball - ( good info on neutral pelvic angle on the TPI website if interested)

good luck with it
