Hi guys, looking for a little help. Im new to this forum and to the game itself...

I have been playing now since April and I will admit I have fallen in love with it and devote all my spare time and money to practicing. I dont have the greatest gear in the world, but for someone at my level of experience, it does the job (for now... I am cramming the overtime in)!

I am a little bit stuck as to where to go from here though...

I have spent hours at the range and have played countless rounds at my local, public nine hole course (it isnt the best, but its the best I have at the minute).

How can I now go about finding a club and using this to improve my game? I love the social aspect of the game, but none of my mates "get it" and are reluctant to give it a go so I have no in-roads...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

(Sorry for going on a bit)!

Cheers :)

Hi twohats and welcome to golf.
Where do you live..roughly?

There may be someone on here close to you who could point you in a good direction

If your near Warrington Walton Hall is a cracking 18 hole municipal course! Also tru fit golf near Widnes do cracking lessons. I think Adrian Fryer is there now! Defo worth a look...

The good thing about a lot of clubs is that they have competitions which are drawn so you play with different members each time which is a great way of meeting other golfers. A lot also have informal roll ups, swinddles, greedies (or other name) at various times over the weekend. The stewards, pro or captain will normally be able to tell you when they go out and in my experience most welcome new members to the fold without a problem.

Welcome to the forum, you dont need the greatest gear to enjoy it. I bought pretty much all mine off ebay or on here with the odd new purchase and have spent no more than £350 ish.

I started in Feb and just joined a club and play 4-6 times a month now and already seeing an improvement. Still do the range time and definitely putting/chipping practice as I reckon it costs me 5-10 shots a round!!!

I would say get a club with decent practice facilities and doesnt get too busy. Nothing worse than feeling rushed round or no tee times due to societies etc

Good luck and keep us posted
