...have a lesson?

I don't mean if things are going wrong or every 3 weeks, I mean when in your schedule?

Should it be after a game so you can get help on things that were going wrong or before a game to get rid of any bad habits. Do people prefer to have a week or so before a game to ingrain any changes or maybe even have one instead of playing?

Just curious as to what peoples thoughts are.

Cheers

I try to have one when there isn't a competition imminent. Our next comp is on the 19th April and I've a chipping lesson on Saturday. Gives me a week to work on the drills and learn to trust whatever changes he makes. Similar with the full swing. I try and book it a week or so before a comp. Not too fussed if I've a roll up game in the interim as it's a good barometer to see if the changes work on the course but I usually like a few range sessions to get the drills right and feel as though I've got the new swing working

If it is a major swing change I would probably lay of competition games for a couple of weeks until you can get it right on the range. If it is regular lessons and just the odd tweak here and there it should not be a problem.

when I can afford them. I spend my spare £££ playing of late, yes I would probably benefit from a lesson or 3 but playing 18 holes is much more enjoyment :)

I think if you have regular lesson if funds allow it keeps everything fresh, and at least your pro gets to know your swing inside and out, also less to adjust than if bad habits have started to set in.

I aim to have 1 every 8 weeks. Looking at increasing it to every 6 weeks soon.

I think the most important thing is to practise the drills as much as possible between lessons, and if something isn't going right speak to the pro. If he's getting regular income the least he can do is offer advice between lessons when needed.
