Here is a question for all you sales people in the computer world. I am looking at replacing my laptop, but when do the best deals actually come up? I am always a bit suspicious of Christmas deals, New Year sales etc. So, if I want to avoid paying over the top when is the best time to buy?

When a range of laptops is coming to an end. they are replaced so often by newer models I dont think it matters with laptops as long as you look hard enough. I have always got a deal on mine going for an end of line model that still does everything and more besides than I need... IMO

to be honest I normally just ask or do a quick search on the internet for up coming models and release dates i think but not sure that new models are about every 3 months with most manufactures but could be wrong

Or i know for a fact that most laptops in PC world are end of line.... but still charge full price especailly the Dell ones ....which i am not a fan off..... PC world may be a starting point find the one then on line shop for best price!

Mark, what are you using it for? Dont worry about sales etc. Sometimes a specific model will be reduced to shift. They can be via straight forward cut prices or also rebates (toshiba and HP are good for these).
If you have an idea of what you are after then you can start from there and watch prices on say, 3 sites.
If you want a cheaper laptop then a dual core AMD will do the job, intel core 2 Duo machines are a little more expensive and the newer Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 models go up in price in that order.
The Dell outlet can uncover some bargain laptops/desktops that have been refurbished for a scratch or failed drive etc. Usually a decent percentage off the usual rrp.

Brendy do you rate dell?

I had a dell some 12/13 years ago and it was a nightmare to upgrade (desktop) with all of its own non standard fittings on the case. Customer service was ok but just thought the product was cheap.

When you get it, a word of advice. Do not let your daughter (in my case) walk across the screen.
Mine was less than a year old (my lap top - not daughter) and had a spiders webb crack all over.

Also, if you have older kids, don't let them use it. They'll only fill it full of shite and kill your battery.
That is all.
