As the title says. I'm looking for a new club next season, so will my current handicap still be valid? Not a member of anywhere this season. Or will i have to start again?

You'll be starting again with 3 cards but they'll likely take into account your last handicap in working out your new h'cap.

Most clubs will accept a handicap that was valid within the last 6 months as far as I can remember

Whats the best way of getting an handicap if your not a member of a club?,my last 6 rounds average 85 on a par 70
course, although my best round as been 82..

Last year i joined my current club after not playing for four or five years, i insisted that id keep my h/cap from when i was playing regular even tho its a much harder course and i spent a year hacking it around but i still loved the fact that i was playing golf again and enjoying the social side of my new club... then towards the end of last year it all clicked and after going up from 7 to 8 i started the season well and now am 6.8 after getting it to 6.6 ... even tho all my playing partners said i should of put three cards in and say nothing i couldn do it as i believed in my ability to play even after such a long break.... but the main reason why i done it is i could not handle the snipes and whispers when walking in the bar if i had a good round as i would of been about 14-15 h/cap with the way i was playing especially as a few members remembered me when i played off 7 at a diff club... being called a cheat is the worst possible thing i could think of in golf.... id rather be called crap.....

I'm the same. I'd rather it was lower than higher to be honest as i've always liked pushing myself. The problem is that you have to get your 3 cards in quick to get playing comps, but those 3 cards are rarely near your best (in my experience) so inevitably you bust the handicap by miles in your 1st comp and are questioned for it.

I did this last year- 75 nett 62 in my 1st comp after i'd got my new handicap.(Unfortunately had to give up club membership this year due to circumstances, so have to start again next year)

So i'll push for 10, as that's what i play off just now anyway.

Chances are they'll either take your 10 or make you play for 3 cards and then get you as close to 10 as is sensible.
Personally, I'd take the 3 cards any day of the week.
If you get 11 or 12 or... then what's the worst that'll happen? You'll play to 10 within a comp or two, make 37/38 or... points and then be almost on 10 again.

I stopped playing on 9.7 (10) and joined a club 9 years later.
My best round was 14 over, so they gave me 11.5. (cheeky!)
I thought that was OK, but I didn't realise that for the next year I wouldn't get any +0.1s if I played on Sundays.
My handicap should have gone up to nearer 14, then dipped back down in my second year to 12 again.

My worst round of this year was a few weeks back, and they still didn't give me 0.1 back, despite being a qualifier.

I believe I must have the most static h'cap ever. :)

You can't. The only way to get a recognised handicap is through club membership. Any "handicap" acquired via an internet service is a guide only.
