You couldn't be more wrong.Oh, you poor bugger!!!
Comics were so big a part of my childhood. Beano, Dandy, Eagle and the really good thick ones that took ages to read.
I remember a childhood friend knocking the door in the e evening holding an armful of them and asking my mum ,who answered the door ,if I had any "swaps"
We'd spend an hour with comics all over the floor , doing deals on what would be swapped for what etc. Then off to bed with a pile to be "consumed" over several evenings after homework and "Journey into Space". or "Dick Barton."
No tv , of course, way back then.
but I wouldn't swap my childhood for the ones 8, 9 yr olds have now, much as I love the technology.
We used to walk down to the town and go to the library every saturday morning, and choose 2 or 3 books each for the week. Astrix the Gaul and Tintin were great
Of course, once secondary school arrived, there was precious little time for casual books, what with homework and the like.
