Played Newport this morning....a grey cloudy day a little soft underfoot from overnight showers. I felt strangely underwhelmed.

Maybe playing Burnham and then Portcawl in the last week in shirtsleeves under blue skies spoilt me and it was back to the realities of parkland golf in late winter?

This is my 10th season there...wondered if I’m getting bored of it? Played much worse than earlier in the week...sure I was just hitting the ball without focusing...

Anyone identify with the feeling?

about 3-5 years for an ok to good course, a bit longer for a better course, have never been a member at a course Id have wanted to play for the rest of my time thats for sure. got to the point where I was 2 or 3 shots better away from home which is never a good sign

I don’t get bored of my home course , it’s mainly about the guys I play with making it different all the time , I always play a lot of other courses anyway but can’t see myself leaving my current place

Member at 4 clubs, 6 courses to chose from and don't get bored playing any of them particularly my nominated home club

Like most posters on the thread, for me it's about the guys I play with mostly, but I dont get bored with the course.

Been at my club over 10 years now and not bored with it at all. Every hole is genuinely different, no two holes are the same and it runs in all 4 directions so can change a lot due to the wind strength/direction. It is quite hilly though so will maybe look at somewhere flatter when I'm an old(er) git :ROFLMAO:

It might depend on your budget and if that outgrows your course, you may want to play somewhere else.

But I don’t think you necessarily get bored of a course, but you definitely get complacent. I played at a course with a lot of par 3s. I got into a bad routine of always taking the same club I’d usually take at each hole. I wouldn’t think about the wind or pin placement particularly.

Also, I definitely got scarred by some holes and really struggled to make a score at a couple to the point I could never imagine getting a par when I stood on the tee.

No. The course is perfect for my standard of golf (still too hard usually) and the members are a great bunch. Decent enough facilities, local and convenient. Will be up there every evening in the summer and not get bored of playing the course

As bored as I could get, it’s the best in the area for some distance, so no chance of leaving.

I also have times where I zone out whilst playing and head into a bit of autopilot.

Shame about the 7th though 😉

I've played at the same course for over 60 years & am not bored with it yet. The way the wind blows, or doesn't, makes it many different courses. Our first is 183 yards. I've hit every club off the tee from an 8 iron to a 3 wood. In addition, it is generally bone dry winter & summer & is almost never shut. Of all the courses local to me I wouldn't want to play anywhere else.

definitely not, been a member 9 years now and the course can play very different from day to day. TBH its taken me that long to really know how to play the course.

in fact quite a few of the guys i play with all say its the sort of course you can play the rest of your like and not get bored,

hope its still the case after all the changes
