What's the point of calling "fore" if...

I never have the problem of people hearing me when I shout FORE. The problem I have is the people stood next to me changing their pants, dunno why...........
...................................might be the ex army drill sergeant volume I have that still works.
I even got a complaint from 4 holes away that my fore shout was too loud once - can't win sometimes.

I had a bit of a go at a guy who nearly hit me. I was on 15, he was playing 14 and sliced it over to the wrong fairway; and didn't shout.

He said that he didn't know I was there. Fair enough - he couldn't see me from the 14th tee but should have shouted since it was heading over the hill to the wrong fairway which he couldn't see.

Anyway, we agreed to disagree and I subsequently felt bad about how hard I'd been on him. But when a ball fizzes a couple of feet past your head it really shakes you up and an overreaction can happen.

Basically, he didn't hear your shout and got a fright so cut him some slack.

When some one acts like that its pointless being nice, just tell the old F**K to back off before you smash his head in.
Maybe alittle extreme but anyone comes over to me like that, there going to get it

If I saw you lifting your hands to an old fella, the hospital would have to surgically remove your golf clubs. Old age comes to us all and although the fella was very forward in his accusations he was probably very shook up and the op had witnesses so should have agreed to disagree.

One thing worse than grumpy old men, that's yobs. And not just in golf

I always shout, even if I am the first in the gates and I know there is no-one else on the course. There could still be greenkeeping staff about.

Me too. Did it today - pulled my 5 wood approach to the 5th and knew it was heading for the 1st green, which I couldn't see, so a loud "fore" was required.

Fortunately nobody was on the first - walked over the hill to see my ball sitting nicely 3 feet from the hole. Shame it was the wrong green!
