What Putter/s Do You Own? & Do you alternate?

It was very light and had a very long shaft and I always found a good 3 inches sticking out the top when I gripped

OMG  had me nearly choking with laughter

Anyhow I've only ever had 2 putters since I started playing on and off for the last 16 years. A ping answer to start with and my current weapon of choice an Odyssey 2-ball I bought in about 2001'ish , which is now starting to show some wear on the face

I have 5 putters. 2 from years ago (both blades) and 3 from the last 2 years (mallets). I had 6 until I gave one away and another is on permanent loan.

I've only ever parted with putters that I never got on with (goodness knows why I like them at the time!!)

BUT, I went for a professional putting lesson/fitting today and my days of buying putters are OVER.

For the time being, I'm sticking with my Taylor Made Monza Corsa now custom fitted.

The fitting was most informative and to a certain extent explains why we all get into habits (good and bad) that then affect our choice of model every time we look at another.

And the result.....?

Well, some of you will remember my general rant about "off-the-shelf" kit and how the regular lie and length is COMPLETELY WRONG for me. Because of this, I could never buy anything at AG/DG/range/pro, it just wouldn't feel right...

My fitter today (trained by Harold Swash) put me on video and got me putting with all sorts of gadgets. I was right about having all mine knocked upright, the lie was correct on all of them (maximum Ping setting, for those of you that know the Ping adjustable) but they were all too long. So, I had the Taylor Made cut down to 34" (from 35) and will get the others done if/when I want to try the old ones again.

Am I happy? too right....

I now have a C/F putter, a new grip and a new stroke.....

Cheaper than buying another putter for £60-160.....

DO IT  EVEN IF YOU'VE JUST BOUGHT A NEW ONE!!!

Where was your lesson/fitting? V.interested in having a video putting lesson.

See PM....

t.b.h. the fitting lesson is mostly about getting the right kit first.

You could have a lesson, but I don't think you could spend an hour with video and working on your stroke without doing the hour I've just done....

That's the impression I got. He's so hot on the fitting side that until you are holding the right "tool" you would *presumably* be wasting your time.....

Where to start. I'm still playing with the itsy bitsy spider although we were barely on speaking terms a fortnight ago and the bigger brother spide was eyeing up a place. I've still got my odyssey 2 ball blade but its 35" and too long so will need chopping down to 33 or 34. I've also got my odyssey dualforce 554 bladed putter (black insert) which I'm hoping my putting lesson next weekend will allow me to use with confidence. If all eles fails I'll go all retro and old skool with my original Ping Anser 2 from the early 80's

I've got a Ping Karsten Piper and a Rife Barbados. Both mallets, both face-balanced, neither with inserts. Just can't judge distance with them.

The Barbados is in the bag at the moment but the Piper is warming up in case of misbehaviour!

i started off with a real tinny heel and toe with the starter set i got, I soon replaced that with a Wilson blacjack v mallet. £15 but TBH i like it.
Got a WIlson staff 8876 at crimbo and I love it, I'm keeping the blackjack just in case though.

I have had my Scotty Cameron in the bag for 8 months or so and its staying there

In the cupboard there is Yes natalie,Odyssey xg no9,Taylormade daytona,Ping b60 nickel(old putter from a child)and a Odyssey white hot rossie

Why not do what I did?

Take all your putters to a proper fitter and choose one to have C/F, then you can rest your mind....

Have 4 putters since i first picke up a golf club in my teens, currently use an Odyssey Dual Force 2.

In reserve a Wilson Blackjack Mallet and 2 very cheap starter putters.

I have a taylormade itsy bitsy monza spider that is excellent but no i dont alternate its hard enough trying to use one never mind another :)

I don't know whether it's age or experience, I can take almost anything out on the course and not be uncomfortable with it. I took a different rescue out on Monday, no bother and will happily putt with almost anything from my collection....

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the insert in the TM putters (AGSI) is superb.....less fussy than yes! and more "normal" than rife....simple but effective....

Stick with it mono, it's a good piece of kit.....

I've got an Odyssey Dual Force Rissie II that I use in the winter and up until Christmas I used an original Odyssey 2 Ball. However I got a Bettinardi BC3 at Christmas and it has become the weapon of choice.

Just to confuse matters even further I picked up a Bettinardi BC1 at a shop in Aberdeen a couple of months back, it was down to £70 so I just had to have it as backup.

Currently I am using my old Odyssey Dual Force 220 34"- a blade putter. But if I need a change I own putters

* an Odyssey Dual Force Rossie 2, 35"
* an Odyssey White Hot Rossie 2, 33"
* a Ram Zebra, 34"
* an original Ping Anser bronze 34"

In the past I used a Taylor Made, a Lynx and a Ping Anser 4

I'm playing with an MD Aladdin at the moment, nice looking club and I'm putting reasonably well with it. I also have a "Yes" Tracey which is sitting in the cupboard under the stairs waiting to make her debut should the MD start playing up. But at the moment, the Aladdin will do for me.

I have had a Yes ! Valerie for about 6 months now but just can't get on with it. I'm thinking of selling it and trying something more to my liking....i should never have been swayed from buying an Odyssey 2-ball.
Might go back to the Wilson that i got with the set of irons.

Just the eight...

Zen Oracle
Rife Hybrid
Mizzy Bettinardi No6
TM rossa monza corsa
80's Ping Pal6 BC
V Old blade putter
Macgregor Something
Loaned Yonex

Been using the Zen since October and I have to say that it has been a revelation.
It has transformed my putting.

I have 2, my new Odyssey Sabertooth which is an amazing putter now that i'm getting used to it. Never used a putter with the insert that Odyssey use prior to buying it and was amazed how soft it comes off the face.

My putting stats speak volumes though, in the 4 rounds i've used it i've 3 putted only twice and my average putts per round has dropped from 38 to 33.

My spare is a Wilson Deep Red II which is a bit crap to be honest!
