What is your favourite golf specific gym exercise?

Hi! I have just joined the forum here but I have been a 'reader' for a while. My name is Matt, I live in Essex and I am a fitness professional with a golf fitness specialist credential. I have been training with amateur and pro golfers for several years. I now deliver golf specific fitness programmes to golfers all over the UK as well as performing 1:1 sessions in Chelmsford, Essex.

I'd love to discuss all things exercise and nutrition so I thought I would kick it off with my favourite question to golfers...

What is your favourite golf specific gym exercise?

Mine is the BOSU / Gym ball / balance disk set up to back swing. The control, posture and balance you can enhance is worth getting excited about!

Hmm, exercise. Golf, and exercise. No.

I run, and cycle, but not for golf. Just for general fitness. Golf is a hobby, it's for fun.

I like the 6 inch lift as I pick my ball out of the hole.

Hi guys I'm new to this forum too. i don't do any exercises solely to improve my golf. I do them for general fitness. but I would recommend focusing on exercises like squats and planks to give the golf swing a solid and stable foundation

I tried the new machine at the gym yesterday and it does everything.

Had to stop, after a Snickers, Twix, Double Decker, Yorkie and 2 Mars Bars I started to feel a bit sick....

to warm up i lift a heavy bag ,then have a twenty minute rest before another heavy bag lift ,this time to put it on my trolley.
its then a long hike around mountainous terrain for five hours this is coupled to strenuous bending down at least 36 times .also lots of twisting of the upper body and balancing acts whilst doing said twists.,to warm down its bag on the heavy bag to put it back into the boot of the car ,another twenty minute rest is followed by even more bag work to put said heavy bag back indoors ,this is done for the wife as she then has to clean said contents of the heavy bag before the contents are returned to the heavy bag and put away till next exercise day.

Dont do Gym anymore .. when i did i mostly did toning work i find the key to helping the game especially distance is flexibility , stay flexible stay long..
