What is the worst shot you have played in golf?

My mate Mike-The-Mole drove off the 5th.
A fine hosel-rocket shot that disappeared deep into the trees on the right. Pretty much as expected with MTM.

A moment later the ball came shuttling back out, bounced across the tee and down the railway sleeper stairs on the left.
It the bounced down the path back towards the 4th green...
It left the path, rolled down the hill through the rough and onto the green
and traversed another 30 foot straight towards and into the hole!

Totally jaw-dropping bizarre.
Worst best shot I ever saw!

My worst recently was at a friends club, 1st tee nerves, pulled the driver out of the bag and gave it an almighty hoof. The ball promptly rocketed off the the hosel at 90 degrees to the tee box nearly decapitating a child on the putting green to the right.

Obviously he has let me live it down.....

I was told that no matter how bad your last shot was, there's a worse one in you just waiting for the right time to appear.

Hit a perfect drive to about 10 yards in front of the lake, giving me a perfect 115 yard pitching wedge distance to the flag.

17th and I was having best round of my life and on to win a comp.

Chunk the pitch so hard it almost did not make it into the water.
Take a drop and thin the next one 30 yards over the green into gorse.

Almost didn't bother playing the 18th

A few years ago now. Playing second shot from the fairway to a long par 4 with a 3 wood. I must have hit the ground about a foot behind the ball. Club just bounced over the ball which never moved an inch.

Topped a drive, albeit got hold of it relatively well.

The ball hit the tombstone marking the distance from the ladies and went back over my head and 75 yards into the woods.

One shot in, negative 75 yards covered.

Played yesterday at Filey. 17th tee is set back about 60-70 yards from the 16th green. Had just parred the 16th so was feeling good. Duffed my drive and it went 90 degrees left along the ground, coming to rest in the middle of the 16th green where the pair behind me were lining up their putts.

Was playing on my own, so shouted my apologies, and decided to have another go. Skied it badly, and watched horrified as it headed in the direction of the 16th green again. Shouted fore. Fortunately it landed just off the green, but I felt like a complete pillock, god knows what the pair on the 16th thought.

Mate of mine did one of those on 18 at The Glen trying to play it safe with a 4-iron off the tee.. luckily there were no cars on the road, ball landed smack in the middle of the road and bounded over to the beach.

My Dad hit a slice that big on that hole that it didn't need road assistance to reach the beach :D

Worst most recent was tee shot on the 1st on Sunday. Complete top, which I can't actually remember ever doing, rolled about 30 yards forward just past a group of seniors waiting by the yellows to tee off. Oh how embarrassing.

Probably the dumbest was when I duffed a chip into the pond on the Par 3 3rd at Chesfield Downs during club champs, after sticking the first in the water. Slammed the wedge into the ground but my foot was in the way so broke my toe. Ended up limping round the rest of the round in absolute agony, but wouldn't quit as a kind of punishment for being a complete dumbass..

Never done it again though !

had a few this week:rofl:

hit a really good 3 iron to the front of the 17th on the new course, was putting around a bunker and cought the edge of the sprinkler head and it bounced into the hardest green side bunker on the course:sbox:

17th road hole on the old course, straight over the Railway sheds, the caddie described it at a fantastic drive best he's seen in ages. its a 455 yards that day. has 120 yards to the flag, just a flick with a GW... went straight under it still had 119 for my 3rd:angry:
