Due to huge inconsistency with any Driver this year, Ive been using a TM R7 3 Wood to good effect, but I think mainly because it has a Steel shaft. :D

I also carry an old Callaway WarBird 5W with a Steel shaft too, which again, is very reliable.
So, I'm considering taking in my Driver and getting a Steel shaft put in, and an inch or more taken off the shaft length perhaps.....

Anyone else use a Steel shafted Driver, or any comments for/against ?

One of my mates uses Callaway steel shafted 3 and 5 woods, and although I'm not a big hitter he often out drives me with his 5 wood.

If I had a choice I'd go for a steel shafted driver everytime, just don't see them on general sale anywhere.

Golfmmad.

If you want to give up 30 yards off the tee that's up to you.
I don't think you'll find many golfers joining you though.

I suggest you stop trying to murder it and swing with more control.

Thats the thing, I dont try to.

As far as losing length is concerned, I'm not sure I would. I'm often nearly as far with this 3 wood i'm using as I normally am with a Driver.
But the thing is, I arent after a whole lot more length, just a bit, but coupled with more consistency.
