Hi All this is my first post so be kind!

My Question is what makes up a stipulated round of golf ?

And here is why I ask--- I am due to play in a pairs knockout match at an away course, When we went down for a practice round we were told that only 9 holes were open for play these were 1-4 and 14-18. So could we play the match over these holes, twice, and how could we work out the stroke index and is it fair as the lower S.I. holes would be missed out. I'm scratching my head. Help would be welcome.

All 18 SIs should be reallocated across the new course. It is unfair to bias the event if a disproportionate number of low SI holes are removed.

This is easy to fix. See what SIs are left for the 9. Suppose those are 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 17 and 18. Order these holes on a list in terms of SI.

Then assuming you are happy to do odds on one 9, evens on the other, you say the lowest SI is now reallocated as SI 1, next lowest reallocated as SI 3, and so on up the odd numbers until the highest SI is now SI 17, and then matching evens apply on the other 9.
