What Are You Worth?

We were going through our insurance at Christmas 2008 and the wife asked how much my stuff was worth. I said £2,000+ and she laughed so I started to tell her:

Driver = £300
3 wood = £150
Titleist hybrid = £100
Irons = £550
Wedges = £300
Putter = £100
Bag & brolley = £150
Balls, gloves ect = £130
Waterproofs and hats = £250
GPS = £120

I then had some explaining to do :(

ok so for a giggle i played the game

New value

driver 275
3w 175
5w 175
hybrid 3 99
hybrid 4 95
irons 495
putter 169
wedges 200
bag 110
brolly 20
balls/gloves 50
motokaddy 300
waterpoofs 300
Total £2463

now for the sakes of keeping my wallet happy i worked out what i had paid on the basis that i will either buy my new stuff at the end of the year when its knocked down on price, or used:

driver 145
3w 50
5w 50
hybrid 3 25
hybrid 4 25
irons 325
putter 50
wedges 110
bag 75
brolly 0
balls/gloves 50
motokaddy 100
waterpoofs 200
Total £1205

i think she will see i made the effort.

Most insurances are new for old so you should really insure them for the full RRP.

If you add up all my gear its about £2500 including sat nav and trolley etc.
Its better to over egg the pudding and the insurance company replaces them for cheaper rather than under value things and then they say well you did not insure for the full amount so we will only offer a contribution.

If you really want to scare yourself start a spreadsheet on 1st Jan and then write down how much money you spend on golf throughout the year.

Add in clothes, green fees, membership, even golf mags, the souvenir ball markers you buy everytime you play a new course, your boys holiday to Portugal or wherever add in the spends as well and wait until see you the final figure.

That will make your toes curl !!!!!!!

:cool:

Total for what I normally have in the boot of my car is £2790. Then obviously there are the 'spares'.

It probably isn't even insured, as it is normally not in transit to and from, but lives in the boot whether I'm going to play or not.

Fairly standard by the looks of it, circa £2800 or so if someone was to take everything in the car boot.

My irons & rescue are a few models old so would need to look at the newer models.......................my car will be unlocked and parked at............ :o :D

I went through the exercise of pricing all the gear I took to the US last year as the airline "lost" the lot for 10 days. Thankfully I never had to go through with the claim, but it did give me a fright when I saw the total - it was over USD 3000 and did not any include rain gear or my powacaddy.

Now if I were to to the same again today with the gear I carry round here - well lets just say, I know the insurance is enough as I check it every year.

The biggest problem I would have is replacing the putter I use as it is not made anymore! :mad:
