Have a few pounds in prize money to use up and have been thinking about getting myself two of these..

However i am unsure what the differences are in the chrome spin milled wedge and the Oil Can Spin Milled Wedge and also the black nickel?

Is it that the Oil can in time will provide more spin?

Also looking on the titleist site and this has me confussed lol

"Spin Milled grooves produce a medium trajectory and high spin and conform to the Rules of Golf until 2024, except in tournaments governed by a Condition of Competition. Spin Milled C-C grooves produce a higher trajectory with medium spin and conform to the new 2010 Rules of Golf for grooves and can be used in events that adopt the new rules as a Condition of Competition."

So there is another rule on wedges, other than the 2024 one?!?

thanks in advance...

Great wedges and all models spin well, but I would regard the finishes as almost entirely a cosmetic issue. I quite like the look of the oil can, and have 2 of them, but I don't think they impart more spin than the others.

Unless you plan to play in top end events (e.g. Open Qualifying and The Amateur Championship), you don't need C-C grooves and can use the old grooves for another 14 years.

There's only one groove rule applicable to us. We can use any wedges until at least 2024. Forget the Pro's - they have different rules now. They'll stop making these deep-grooved wedges at the end of the year. After that they'll be made to conform with the new rule. But you can buy one now and use it for the next 14 years at least - might be a bit 2nd hand by then though....

The finishes are mainly to cater for taste. The Satin Chrome and Black Nickel are anti-glare finishes that last a fair while. The Oil-can finish will rust. Allegedly you will get more spin from a rusty wedge. Honestly I don't think it makes a blind bit of difference. Once its rusted it becomes an anti-glare finish as well.

Yea as above it is all down to personal preferences.Ii saw a while back that the finish doesnt make any difference whatsoever.
personally, I have compared the milling on my md and my Vokey wedges, the Vokey is a rusty oil can and the MD looks to be plated. the Vokey has long lost its fingerprint like milling while the MD is still like new.
I have got a few quid in my account and will be changing the vokey (which still spins well) to an MD 56 degree Norman Drew which will mean all of my wedges are MD made. Not bad for a wee NI company.

TBH I would keep the bag MD and go for their wedges. True mad spinning madness spinning things.

I changed my MD50 for a 52 vokey and will be changing back to the MD when the grooved are a bit more worn.

I'm not a huge vokey fan. Just a personal preference as they clearly work for a large number of people but I just find them a tad heavier than my TM Z TP's. Of all the wedges I've looked at the new S56 are the ones that excited me and the Tour W are the best I've played. Not overly spinny brand new unlike a lot of others and very easy to get check on and manipulate high and low shots.

I have two Vokey wedges, and whilst i love the sandwedge, i am thinking of changing my 52 degree to a Mizuno mp t10. Agree they seem heavier than most, which i find fine for the shorter shots and out of sand, but struggle from longer range.

Have Mizuno mp52 irons and they are so sweet, so hoping gap wedge feels the same.
