Its about me.......

I played really well in the monthly medal on Saturday carding a nett 64. PAr 72 Course CSS 70.

Winner got Nett 64, I came second based on back 9 shot 42 over back 9.

Went into club last night to check out result, what a shock I couldn't see my name in the top 3... Number 4 was nett 66. I only went and forgot t sign my card. Filling in father in laws card and our other playing partners card properly, and in the rush to get a cool pint down my neck never signed my card as a player. Well the pint was nice, got a decent cout on my handicap. Just missed out on the prize of £50 for 2nd andcat prize, also a prize for a 2.

We live and learn.

Any one else made a complete hash of things lately or in the past like me

Really unlucky mate though it shows you're capable of doing it again.
Just a small question, as you were DQ'd shouldn't the handicap adjustment been 0.1 back ?

Not sure as I've only been playing just over a year, so I don't fully understand the handicap and competition process.

Can anybody else shed any light on this for me??? :(

Thankfully the secretary at my old club handed me back the card with the words "you might like to check that you havnt forgotten something" - brilliant guy!

When any one in my group has a good card I always insist that the sit and check through it with the marker before putting it in.

Chris

I wish there where more people like that in clubs.

Especially as a newbie it would be nice to be pointed in the right direction to help me learn and understand 'all' the ins and outs of comps. Trying to learn the rules all the formats, the scoring, etc... Its not easy

I guarantee its a mistake you won't repeat. Our club uses the PSI system and you have to swipe in before you go out to register your round. Lots of people have/still forget to do it and its usually the weeke they play well. Its a DQ for failing to do so although the score will count for handicapping. All I do now is sign in as soon as I get into the locker room. I always double check that I've signed my card too good bad or indifferent

I always sign my card as soon as i collect it from the pro shop. I also sign my playing partners card as soon as I get it on the 1st.
Great shooting, a pity you did not collect the prizes.

It's not the physical act of signing the card which is important - it is meant to be an acknowledgement that you agree with the gross score recorded for each hole, not stableford points or anything else.

I sign my card, check it again and then post scores on the computer, check it's signed again, and put in competition box. Five minutes later I start to worry that I forgot to sign my card. God I hate getting old and senile. ;)

But then your partners could stick in whatever score they like as it is signed!

Chris,
I always strikethrough and initial any errors on the card. I would hate to be the reason for someone getting disqualified after a good score, especially if it is lashing down with rain.

No, but my pairs partner entered the 2-round champ' at the weekend and didn't make the Sunday after being DQ'd for not signing the book in the pro shop. He even paid £3 for the privilege. :D
Effectively, the pro (the main one, not some spotty 16 y/o) saw him put the money in the pot, take a card and then never reminded him to write his name down.

Better to learn the lesson in a medal than in a club majors comp. Unfortunately my "knob" moment was on the 17th hole of the singles match play final, still burns!

There's no need to initial any changes on a scorecard.

Your clubhouse not got a roof ;) my point is you are signing the card to accept and agree with the score recorded, surely if you have sgned it already then I could put whatever I like in??
