I saw a good drill whereby you put a credit card inside your lefthand glove (on the back of your hand) to prevent this from happening. Will try and find a pic.

Depends which way it is cupped.
If the back of the left hand is nearer to the left forearm, that's not a bad thing.
If it is cupped the other way so the palm of the left hand is nearer the inside of the forearm, that's not ideal.
