Westerham driving range

At the committee meeting last week, we were told due to the wet/freezing weather, things were behind schedule by a few months. I would think driving range will be open in April or May.
Putting green should be ready in April, and the new 9 hole won't be ready until early 2016 (the original date)

So they didn't realize Winter happens!

If they are going to talk tosh, they could at least make a more convincing excuse!

As long as the end result is high quality, it's not all that important.

They didn't believe the weather would be as bad and that the ground wouldn't cope with the weather as well this year as it has before.
Not tosh, but possibly ill-conceived.
The putting green looks great at present, so hoping the rest will be quality too.

Yeah right!

This Winter has actually been relatively mild, with nothing (yet) excessive in the way of snow/frost, wind or rain!

As an update, the putting green should be open by mid-May, and the driving range hopefully by the same time, although this may stretch to mid June.
The putting green looks great, and far more representative of the course.

The plan is for the range to have a large strip of Huxley artificial mat with those small, low metal hoop-style bay dividers. Maybe 8 of them and should be really good when finished.

Anyone who plays the course will be pleased to hear that the 8 the green should be ready mid May.

Everything depend on grass growth, which due to the cold weather hasn't really started.

Out of interest... has the Winter weather been THAT BAD in Westerham compared to recent previous years? (I think it's been quite mild all things considered)

The driving range hasn't had much, of anything, spent on drainage in previous years, as it was rightly spent on the course, so any rain (which there's been a lot at Westerham) has affected things, yes.
Add the fact that machinery found it difficult to cope with the slopes on our range because of the above, plus they chose to prioritise work going on on the course, it's led to a bit of a delay.

The 9 hole should be ready this time next year, mate, assuming they get can get enough growth out of the grass.
