I've probably had 5-6 different sets of irons this year, I fancied trying different types of irons to see if I could find a set thst would work for me.
I've had nike, benross, wilson staff, callaway and a set of titleist irons. most were picked up for around £150 a set.
Anyway, long story short, I got fed up with keeping swapping and looking for help from my clubs so I got rid of them all and got a set of old RAM irons from a mate for £20.
I've played 3 rounds with them so far and shot 85, 83 and a level best 82 at my course!
Its definitely made me realise that I dont need to waste loads of money on top brand gear!!!

old technology, tired shafts, probably handicapping yourself. Once the honeymoon period wears off you'll be hunting for new bats yet again!

This week I got myself some old AP2s, i think they are brilliant but the same thought went through my mind that does it realy make a difference????? A nissan micra can do the same job as a ferrari and last longer aswell but it cost a 100 times more?????

Don't you sometimes wonder how good your game would be if you spent £500 on lessons. I'm of the change the bats brigade in the hope I can buy the improvement but in reality its still the same swing with something that in all probability will only make a marginal difference.

What would you rather drive?????

Ermmm...
The Micra and the Ferrari are basicaly the same thing, made to go from A to B. Trouble is the Ferrari is built to do it in 2.5 seconds and the Micra is built to use 50 mpg doing it.
It's difficult to compare clubs that are basically the same but made for different things.
For example, JPX HD clubs are designed to get the ball from A to B on a high, straightish flight (Micra)
MP69's are also designed to get the ball from A to B but on a more controllable trajectory and probably not a straight flight while providing the ball with the right amount of spin to stop it close to the flag( Ferrari).

Same job, just different ways of doing it. Your average high handicapper will benefit from using the Micra, whereas the Pro or Elite Amateur will benefit from the Ferrari.
