Tales of woe only here please.

If you played well I'm happy for you but bugger off! ;)
If the wheels fell off please share :)

We had a medal this morning. I just spent ages writing out how it went, but read it back and it was boring, so the general gist is...

3 birdies, 8 pars, 3 bogeys, 3 doubles and a quadruple (on the last) to finish bang on handicap, but it could have been so much better.

Off the tee I have no idea where the ball is going. Good ones are great, I measured one today at 316yds, but I also gave myself no shot at the green on 6 holes.

Irons are rubbish. Of the 12 greens I had a legitimate shot at, I only hit 4 and 6 were pulled to the left. Never hit the green once from more than 100yds.

Chipping was good. Managed to get up and down half the time, including 3 with the lob wedge when short-sided.

Putting was good. Had 11 putts on the front 9 including a 3-stab. 28 for the round but had a couple bobble off on the back 9.
A combination of a new putter and a lesson appear to have made the difference. Long may it continue.

I've calmed down a bit now and starting to see the positives, but I was steaming when I got home after being 2 over gross through 13 and dropped 8 shots in the last 5 holes.

My game up until last week has been the complete opposite. Good from tee to green and fair to crap around the greens.

I give up :(

Well, I don't, but you know what I mean.

So, who else is fed up with it after today??????

A nicely timed thread Gary

I'm so jacked off at the moment that i've made my mind up to leave the club and move to one up the road.

I came sooo close to doing it last year but gave it one more shot , however the problems havn't gone away and i've reached my breaking point.

I will be going up to the new club on Tuesday with a view to joining 1st June. They may even let me have a free couple of rounds in May with any luck ;)

My missus has said just give the game up for good and we'll get a dog. Very tempting I must say.

Well my driving was shocking on the 9 holes I played Friday. Didn't hit one fairway, in fact on one hole CVG was dead centre of the fairway and we estimated my ball to be about 90 odd yards to the right! Still got a par but that's not the point is it?
2 completely duffed drives, 1 ok but a little right, the rest fairly right except the "biggy"!!
And this after a range session where I felt I'd actually got control of the driver......
Irons are Ok, short game a little rusty still and putting still acceptable. On the short course though I hit 15 greens, some really close from yardages of 50-97 yards. Greens not holding so having to run the ball up or throw it up really high.

Not from this weekend but from Wednesday night. It was the first qualifying round for one our matchplay knock out competitions. I had been playing well so was quite confident of a good score.

A shank ob on the 6th, 2 shanks on the 10th,1 on the 11th, a shank into the water on the 15th, tee shot in the ditch on 17 and 2 ob off the tee on the 1st soon put paid to any confidence I had. Ended up with an NR.

Still theres always next weekend.

Had an absolute stinker today so thanks for the opportunity to vent. Still struggling with my new grip and now have less confidence on the course. No idea where the ball was going slicing one minute snap hooking the next and when I did hit a good shot I'd balls it up by three putting. Hit my tee shot on 11 to three foot and walked off with a four. The only arrow straight drive I hit was on 17. Shame I'd aimed 40 yards left to allow for my slice and strong crosswind. :D

Medal next week and I don't know if I'm coming or going. Bloody hate this game. :( Left the club to go home, got petrol, turned round, went back to the club and hit balls for two hours. Feel better now but bloody hate this game. Like you region I give up in the probably playing again on Monday sense.

Why do we do this to ourselves!!!!!!?????!!

Sounds like my kinda golf....and solid for a 4.7 h/cap :D

Drove the 351 yard par 4 10th (howling back wind), lipped out for eagle and missed the tiddler for birdie. Great par, eh? :(

Least gave the Eagle putt a real good go mate, rather watch it lip out than leave it 2 feet short hey?

Positives pal, take them all day.

Naah, it was the perfect storm of a superb drive and a gale force back wind that got me there. Never been on it before - not even close really - and not likely to get there again.

Blew it completely. Should have made birdie instead of making the worst par that I'll probably ever make. :(

Last weekend, first Qualifying comp of the year (for me) played 18 after work on Friday, 9 pars and 2 birdies with a couple of doubles and rest bogeys.....

Come Saturday and started double, double, double :( had 6 1 pointers and a scrub to scrape into buffer with 34 points, another tale of what could have been! :(

Playing in 30-35 mph winds today in stableford comp.

17 points on front nine playing some great stuff, for the conditions, and blew it on the back nine unfortunately.

Quite a laugh in those conditions though!

Sorry to hear that region3, I'm not a big fan of the eighteenth at yours, the trees on the right have swallowed many of my golf balls!.

It's always been my biggest bogey hole round there.

I hooked my first drive into the cabbage on the left, the first provisional straight into the trees on the right on the full, and the second provisional with a hybrid 'for safety' hooked into the left garbage again.

Thankfully found the one in the trees, came out sideways, pulled yet another iron left of the green, hit an average chip and 2 putted.

The good news is that seeing the results online I managed 3rd in my division, and thanks to the 8 being adjusted to a 7 and css going up 1 I got a 0.4 cut to 9.5

If I'd just made bogey on the last I'd have won my division and I could've doubled the last to be off single figures now. :(

Fed up with the club I take it then, not your game?

Good these 910's aren't they ;)

I didnt play today, but can i join for my round last sat and monday?
Saturday went.....
bogey, par, par, par, par, bogey, par, par, so, I was +2 gross through 8, but that doesnt tell the whole story, I was playing well, and never in trouble, swing was grooved and feeling great, striped one down 9, 233 to the green, had hybrid, and then change to 3 wood, yep, lost swing topped it 75 yards into the water, made 7, for a double!
Par 10, and think I am back on track, then go triple, bogey, quadruple :(, double!! finished bogey, birdie, par, par for 86!

Monday was plus 3, so below h'cap for 8 holes, playing well, just made a great par from the trees having to pitch out, then hit hybrid from 220 ish rolled to 15 feet and made par, so I was buzzing, then went 6 consecutive bogeys par, par, double and lost ball on the last for 32 points!
AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH.....

but there is always next time..

Thanks for the chance to vent R3 :)
