During my last few rounds, it was sunny to cloudy but cold (just above 0°C!), and there was an equally cold, biting wind. After either freezing terribly 🥶 or looking like the proverbial Michelin Man, I decided I had to get a new jacket that was both warm and functional.

What are your experiences? Which jackets do you recommend?

When it's very cold I ramp up the thermal base layer, and multiple thinner layers.

Rechargeable hand warmer and hefty wooly hat helps too.

But, as per your request, I have a great footjoy padded jacket (body is padded, but not the arms) but I hardly ever wear it. 😁

FJ thermo series are perfect for what you’ve mentioned. They’re warm but a sort of hybrid jumper/jacket.
Just fit well and easy to swing in.
Hydrolite series are good waterproof jackets but sometimes feel you’re swinging with a bin bag on

All of the above are good. If you are going baselayer, then the Zerofit range are quality. I normally play with the heat rub ultimate baselayer and a golf polo, even at 0 deg. Bast 50buck you'll ever spend.
The electric hand warmers are great for in your mitts. Only done this combo the last year or so and wish had done this year's ago.
It's a total game changer..no more Michelin man.

Agreed, even with a ProQuip rain jacket on yesterday I felt a bit restricted, can't imagine wearing a thick, warm jacket to try and play. Baselayer and multiple thin layers all the way for me.

Saw someone last weekend with a North Face puffer jacket with the hood up on the first tee. Thought he was out for a walk with his mates until he went and got his driver. No idea how you manage to play in that.

When it’s cold I usually have on a thermal base layer, polo, a thermal 3 quarter zip, gilet and woolly hat. Mitts on the trolley with electric hand warmers. I have never felt cold with that combo even last winter when it had a wind chill of -6C.

It depends on the weather for me.

If it is raining I wear a lightweight water and wind proof jacket over a nice warm sleeveless fleece

If it is not raining I wear the fleece over the jacket.

I have always preferred extra layers to one big layer and thermal underwear is a must for me when it is very cold.

LOL ! 😄

It‘s my sailing gear I‘m wearing actually ! It may be warm, but it’s a little bit „bulky“ and not very flexible … ! 🤷‍♀️
My other golf jackets are Adidas Frostguard - very warm and very light, although not much warmth on the arms, as it's like a hoody material.
and a Nike Storm Fit Victory jacket, which is extremely warm, windproof and somewhat water-resistant, it's also very quiet when you swing too. I'd probably reccomend this above the frostguard

I’ve got a Galvin Green jacket which is super comfy to swing in. A few years old so probably discontinued but still looks like new.
I quite often wear a warm hoody with a body warmer combined with Druids thermal trousers which are super comfy too. Macwet gloves if it’s really cold.

Weil, thanks everybody, I just ordered a bunch of items from base layer to isolated jacket, let‘s see how they fit !

For today my old (sailing) gear will have to do it again … (2.2°C actually 🥶 ) !
