Been offered a day at Woburn on April 1st (yes I know). Coffee and bacon rolls, 18 holes individual stableford am on the Marquess, lunch, relaxed 18 on the Dukes (no comp) and prizes. £130

Seems a bit steep but the clocks will have gone forward the week before so hopefully it'll be dry and firm(ish). I love playing at Woburn but just thought the price was a touch high. Any thoughts?

Isn't £130 not far off the Marquess cost by itself? Add in prizes, lunch and a round on one of the others and its a bargain

homer - thought u had a `project` of gettin down to singles figs by start of 2011 !! looks like ur h`cap`s gone north instead of south....maybe u should spend the £130 on lessons instead .. gcd

Just a passing comment Homer but for someone who cancelled all next years outings, thought he would be unemployed you sure are flashing more cash than Donald Trump on a house in Menie,i mean new irons,£130 day out at Woburn, come on mate remember what you post as GCD said get lessons from a decent pro then you might get to single i mean you put the practise in

Just to clarify, it is something my teaching pro is organising and wanted to put it up to some of his customers first. I'm tempted and as the I15's may not be making it onto the Xmas list after all thought this would be a pretty good alternative.

I thought you were skint???

If you can lay out £130 on this, can I put you down for the North Kent meet??? :D

My mum and the in laws had offered to club together on the I15's. As I'm still in two minds especially the way I hit them today this trip seemed a better (and cheaper option). I'm still not in a position to play any of the trips away except for the Blackmoor one in June which will be a birthday present (my birthday being the week before)

Spend the £130 on a day at Woburn Homer...don't waste any money on lessons all winter and you'll have covered the cost. You'll be able to peg it up on the 1st tee with out your head full of shite thinking about this and that swing thought....

Lessons aint working for you, your hcp says so..

Not having played a comp in nearly two months isn't good for getting cut either. Now we are on temps for a while it won't change either. Contrary to popular belief the lessons are working and I just need the course to be fully open to take the work I've been doing out there and trust it to work

You've been saying that all the time I've been on this forum but I'm not sure it is.You've played all year and your hcp has gone up.

Paralysis by analysis I think Gary Player said today but what do I know.

I went up 0.8 over the entire season so hardly time to reach the panic button. Truth is I've hit the ball great in patches and the just thrown silly holes in to wreck a potential cut. I've played some great stuff without the scorecard in hand including beating the other guys (all good players) on the Macmillan Longest Day and playing under my handicap for four rounds.

If you think it is paralysis by analysis now you should have seen me before this year with 535 separate swing thought on every shot. This year has been all about hitting it, finding it and repeating until it's in the hole. I've enjoyed my golf so much more (even the bad ones). To be honest you've never played with me so I don't see how you can really say I've not made progress when you haven't seen anything resembling a before and after

Ok ok..you know best,I was just offering you my opinion. You've posted your swing a few times so I may not have played with you but I know more about your game than I know about my own....over 15000 posts and a blog

Homer.
I hate to say it mate, but you're deluding yourself if you really think that is the case.
I have never known anybody spend as much time tinkering and playing with their swing. And yes, that includes this year!
So many times in the past you think you have found "the holy grail", posted on here about it, only to come crashing back down to earth when you get on the course proper.
If you are not actually playing you are either having a lesson, down the range or on the practice ground. You live, eat and breathe golf, and I guess that in itself has got to be admired.
But to say that you have changed your attitude this year is really not the case mate.
Like I have said before, if I had spent as much time, money and effort on trying to improve my game as you have I would be a bit pee'd off that I wasn't low single figures. The penny would have dropped by now.
I have got nothing against you personally. I have played with you a few times and you are great company on a golf course. I like you. Really I do.
But you set yourself up, time and time again, by posting about something and then getting defensive when somebody on the site picks you up on it and you feel there is a "vendetta" out to get you.
As said above, you post about being worried about your job and having no money coming in and having to pull out of all forum meets next year. Everybody (well almost everybody) felt sorry for you. I was even considering throwing a "freebie" at you for Cooden so that you could still get down to play.
But then within the space of 3 or 4 weeks you are posting about new irons, new shoes, and expensive trips to Woburn. It doesn't matter where the money is coming from, or who is paying for it.
The problem is, once you post something on the forum it won't be forgotten about. It's there for all to see. A simple click on the search button brings it all back to bite you.
On the basis of what has been posted before, I'd have kept this particular question to myself mate.

Must admit it is well above my budget for a golf day. I am still having sleepless nights paying £100 to play St Andrews. Actually the sleepless nights are more to do with the opening tee shot !

Good to hear you are a definite for Blackmoor.
